Donor wants to sue NCAA

NCAA ruled on Detroit Mercy’s appeal before ours already. It was denied.
Yes, but if we've learned one thing from the NCAA throughout the years, it's that you can expect no consistency in rulings whatsoever.
UNC - making up classes and giving student athletes grades? NCAA: Bah, it's fine...there were a few other students in there that weren't athletes
USC - Reggie Bush was proven to have been paid over $200K and given a house by boosters and some coaches had knowledge that it was happening. NCAA: *insert see no evil monkey.jpg here* (Note the Heisman is separate from the NCAA and taking back his Heisman trophy was not done by the NCAA)
GT - former player gives a current player roughly $300 worth of clothes...which is later repaid. NCAA: Strip the 2009 ACC title from them, introduce scholarship penalties, fine the school, require mass execution of first born children.

If anything, this decision gives me hope that ours will be approved because the only thing about the NCAA is that they're consistently inconsistent on everything they do. (Except cashing the checks...they're consistently good at taking $$$$$).

USC and Reggie Bush were pretty harshly penalized. He can't even step foot around the program. He also had to surrender his Heisman

UNC former athlete Robert Quinn responds to recent testimony that he was paid while a Tarheel that he cannot remember, for he tries to blank out “bad stuff”.

Your list isn’t nearly long enough. Todd Gurley signing helmets. The Ohio State player getting a loan or whatever from this year, Cam Newton quick deal at Auburn, etc. etc. etc.

Yep. I could have literally taken a good portion of the morning detailing their BS.

Way off on USC, though. Just like with our ACC championship, you can't erase the memory of victories – but the NCAA tried its best to take away USC national championship. They vacated USC final two victories, including the national championship game over Oklahoma. And as a result, the BCS and the coaches' poll no longer recognize their championship. USC also suffered much worse 'going forward' penalties, including losing 30 scholarships over 3 years. (You said we lost scholarships, but we didn't.) USC basically still hasn't recovered – they're a shadow of their former self.

PS. In trying to confirm that we didn't lose any scholarships, I came across an AJC article written in 2017 when our probation period finally ended. Here's a great quote:
Part of the (GTAA's) actions taken in response (to the penalties) were to increase the compliance office from two employees to four. ... (Assoc. AD Paul Griffin) praised (chief compliance officer Shoshanna Engel) for how she and her staff have engaged with coaches in answering rules questions, not simply answering the question asked, but covering all the bases.

“They’re just easy to work with, very accessible, have good attitudes,” Tech assistant basketball coach Darryl LaBarrie said. “We don’t have any issues with them at all.”

Engel said that compliance has become foundational to the culture in the athletic department. “By that, I mean that we build the idea of compliance into everything we do,” she said. ...

“They just keep us well informed on what we can and cannot do, and it’s our job to go comply with it,” LaBarrie said.
Oh Darryl – these quotes are from about six months after the strip club trip
