Double Official Game Day Thread: GT vs Clemson

Good thing Atlanta has a history. They can talk about something else besides GT football while they are here.

Who cares how it went down? The point is an elite coordinator like Smart or Venables can get a much better HC gig than GT whenever they want.

This is a constant source of circular logic on the board. “We should be better. We’ll never get the kind of coach to be better.”

Good coordinators go to lesser schools all the time. GT is a better destination than most schools. You want to compete? You have to find a way to make them ink the contract.

0-4 passing. Two of which were out of bounds. One to the other teams player and one a terrible screen pass to the d lineman.

PJ can say all he wanted about making throws in practice. There’s something called a gamer. This is a person who delivers when it matters. This is not TQ.

I’m not watching the game because I have better things to do. How many fumbles do we have?

The only reason it looks good in practice is because our D sucks just as bad.

Our passing plays remind me of other teams' flea flickers, except those have a higher chance of working

I’ll say this. I’ve played enough sports to know that every team has the “practice all stars” that always show out in practice then severely underperform in games. Ever since UT that has been the case with him. Sadly.

This is what happens when you have a scumbag administration demanding that S/As graduate faster and at a higher rate than the rest of the student body. And that administrator keeps hiring people on the Hill that steal from the taxpayers of the state?

And when a coach has an ego so huge as to his O ability, that he doesn’t think he needs to recruit the best he can. He likes the path of least resistance by going against Elon and such schools. He recruits kids that want us to guarantee them 4 years and then they load up and leave us short in 3.

This is so unfair to our players.

CPJ has been paid very, very well.

I can no longer think of anything to say beyond what he said, in his first few days on the job, to a young man who had committed to come to GT -

“Don’t need him - don’t want him.”

Every year we keep Johnson, we are not saving money on a buyout. We are costing ourselves much more money in lost donations, bad pub, worse recruiting, more time to rebuild, lost ticket sales. Just losing more money in every way.

Hey, we should go after him. And I agree, we can absolutely get a good, probably even great, coordinator to take our HC job. I just don't think we can get the best coordinator in the country, who is already being paid like 2 million a year in his current position
