Duke Game Synopsis

Witnessed nothing but listened to the first TD. Lemme try to recap according to the posts Ive read.
1. We won
2. We got lucky
3. Defense was soft, but were gritty on the last drive to save face
4. The DBs cant cover
5. Offense and Pnode are ???
6. CGC might be better not saying anything at all
7. QB still having head scratching moments…good and bad
8. Our passing game is much better than our running game
9. The OL still the worst position group on the team
10. Our team discipline is much better regarding low number of penalties
11. As a whole the team is soft
I think you improve number 11, the other ten will improve drastically.

I think even our own coaches and players would downplay this victory. Anyone trying to say we came in and dictated the game and outcome is lying to themselves. We were incredibly lucky. It’s fine. It happens but it’s not a reason to celebrate. In fact it would be bad for the team and program to celebrate any longer than a few hours. We clearly have a lot of work to do.
Someone is jelly we have a coach again that can beat Duke.

We didn’t manage to blow a 14 point lead so we got that going for us I guess

I think that depends on your definition of blowing a lead. I view that as a blown lead I that we were behind and had to get a desperation score with less than a minute to go to win.

You are very correct about us being soft, when DUKE is more physical you are SOFT.

This is very concerning. WTH is the S&C coach doing?

Man I’m glad we pulled out a win yesterday. There is absolutely no reason to lose to such a crappy team. This is not the dook of 2012-2018 where they averaged 8+ wins/year, dook is back to the 1990-2010 where they win 2-3 games per year and an occasional 4. If we lost, we were going to plunge off the cliff. Perilously close to being a 2 win season. Now have some hope we can beat 2 of 3 of vag, da u & bc and salvage this season, try to regroup God willing next season with some blatantly obvious changes.

You do realize that as of right now, we will be 3-7 point dogs in all 4. If we win 6 total, great season, 5 not bad.
I don’t pay much attention to spreads that are designed to get money moving on bets not predict winners and losers.

All 4 of the next 4 games are basically toss ups. If the staff is at all worth their salt they will win more than half.

ND I’m still trying to figure out. UGA is in another class and that game should pretty much be disregarded. Anything short of getting blown out by uga will be something of a success.

No argument to any of that. It's why I posted:

"What a nice win for the boys & the program. To make the plays necessary to leave ööööhole Wallace Wade with a victory is a solid step forward for GT football. "

No basking here. No massive celebrations. Just relief that we got a win in a situation and location where we haven't been getting wins from lately.

A 9 win Duke team or a 4 win Duke team? I’m sure you weren’t one of those tools that dismissed beating a 9 win Duke team just because they were Duke and is now proclaiming beating a putrid Duke team is the proper standard of measurement. I’m sure that couldn’t be the case.

The only reason Duke has 9 win teams back then is because we decided to exit the recruiting game.

I have never dismissed a win. In fact i think asshole fans that criticize coaches after a win ďo not deserve that win.

We are much better with McGowan on the field.
I gotta ask, after playing very well last week Rutherford was nowhere to be found, was he injured?

Going forward, I don't want to see Norris on the Field as long as Rutherford is healthy, he is much better than Norris.

Norris seems to play Gun-Shy and fearful of contact and doesn't work back towards the ball on passing plays, little missteps like that hurt our passing game.

Yes, we are much better with McGowan in the field.

We say "competition is king" but Norris wasn't very competitive yesterday, I wonder are we playing Guys that look All-World in drills and maybe aren't gritty street fighters when playing in live fire Game Scenarios, I'd like to see more of the latter TBH.

Amazing we beat them with the talent they had that we should have then? Ok. They were still a 9 win team. They aren’t now. Let’s hope the Duke win isn’t our signature win at seasons end.

You're seeing something I'm not I think all our WR's have had some solid performances this year.
