ESPN Source: 2 year postseason ban for Southern Cal

Not even a scratch. They still made millions upon millions of dollars for cheating, and the money from all those wins and the title is not being taken away.

I'm a little late to the party. I've heard about the possible USC penalties that have been in the works, but what did Kiffin do to warrant investigation? Especially back in 2004...

Being under investigation has nothing to do with looking clownish. Kiffin left a good program with a fanbase that liked him - in a way that reduced it's coaching staff and recruiting class to nearly nothing and turned the whole vol nation against him (in a spectacularly public display). He went to a program under investigation by the NCAA for cheating that everyone heavily suspected would be penalized in such a way - with a fanbase that was kind of confused and put off that he'd be their head coach because he has this odd reputation for being completely unproven at the game of football. Not to mention that his recruiting tactics prior to changing programs were already under scrutiny by the NCAA.

Regardless of whether or not much of it is his fault, it looks bad. Which is all I was trying to say.

well let's not act like kiffin had no ties to SC whatsoever

Yeah he probably participated in the cheating, but he wasn't the HC at the time. Though, looking at his HCing at Tenn, he looks like a cheater too.
