Planning to travel to Duke, UVA and Miami games. As I get older three trips in the fall is about all I am up to. I do have season tickets to ECU games with both children, their spouses and the two grandsons. The grandsons sit with Grandma and me. I look forward to those tailgates, although ECU’s 7 home games are front loaded like our schedule - with home games September 3, 10, 17 and 24. I was hoping to see Tech play Ole Miss, but the Pirates play Campbell, my wife’s alma mater that day. Will have to wear some orange with the usual purple.

Back to the Jackets, I am excited to see how they do with Clemson, Western Carolina and Ole Miss to start the season. Start 2-1 and enthusiasm will ramp up. I join most of the experts in viewing this roster as being pretty thin with few outstanding spots in the lineup. But, the teams we will be playing are not that much better. We played Clemson close last year. Ole Miss lost a lot. I am not afraid of any team in our division. They are all decent, except maybe Duke, but none are great. The same is true for FSU and UCF. This is the year to learn how to win and be more consistent. It could happen.

I suspect our AD and/or coach will be let go by week 5. I’m excited about finding a new coach or being surprised that we’ve put a winning team together. I’m trying to be optimistic and trying to stay committed to watching the games live. But my excitement level has never been lower. I guess put me down for a 4.

My excitement level and expectations have never been below a 6-7 even in some bad years but never like this...

I am looking forward to the first half of the season. Half-way through, I expect to be excited that we are performing much better than I anticipated or I will be excited that we are hiring a new AD and a new head coach. If we perform poorly and we retain our AD and head coach, I will have to accept that the decision has been made by our administration to no longer attempt to compete.

Well, if you put it like that move me up to a 7.

What’s got me at a 3 is the impending uncertainty over our program. I suspect at 4 wins with a couple close losses or 5 wins with a nailbiter, we’ll be saddled with this guy another year while all the fanboys regurgitate how close he is to turning the corner.

If somehow magically we’ve found the special sauce, well I’ll be happily amazed but damn it’s looking bleak other than some addition of good coaches. He’s on his own talent now and I think there’s too many gaping holes to plug.

I am in the 3 range. If they are on TV, I will watch. However; I probably won't go out of my way, to see them. I find my time, more valuable.

If you asked how excited you get by sex, you would probably get the same answers from the same people.

There needs to be a 7-retain blind optimism because I’ve always cared about GT football, was hoping CGC was up to the challenge. Not sure about the future as college football has taken a backseat in my life partially because GT doesn’t seem to care to compete and because of the continuing movement away from what I felt made college football special.

I was excited about last season. Third year, turning point, two lackluster seasons before, this is it! Then NIU happened. WTF. Season progresses, same old CGC bullshit. UNC, well this looks promising. Then Duke (a win that felt like a loss). BC, whatever. ND, UGA, oh öööö this team just quit.

I used up all my hot sauce last season :(

But I know what is going to happen. This coach is somehow going to pull a rabbit out of his hat and get 4 or 5 wins and be retained for another year, and get an extension for 'crootin reasons. Or Tech is going to start 1-4 and just quit. Either option sucks.

I can help you out with that- here’s my go to for hot sauce:

Uhhhhhhh

lemme get uhhhhhhhhh

a good spot on 10 from which to piss on everyone below me.

Very low excitement. College football is a failed sport. Watching the same handful of teams making it to the tournament every year can only be fun if you’re a masochist. Heck, even Alabama fans are bored of CFB at this point.

Also, the SEC team losing in the SEC championship game but winning the MNC broke the sport completely for me. It didn’t help that the team was UGA.

College football in general sucks. I used to be glued to the TV all day on Saturdays. Now I'll watch the GT game if I am able to and that's it.

This is the same for me. I know a lot of it is age and having a family so I can’t spend 14 hours in front of 2 TVs anymore in my basement every Saturday. But with GT sucking and CFB teams becoming a bunch of mercenaries wearing the same uniform, I’m in the 3-4 range based on GT’s suckage but I’m teetering on 1-2 based on the status of college football.

Just so you part-time assholes know, once you achieve enlighenmen and find yourself at a 10, you will be capable of simultaneously experiencing stages 0-9 while never leaving the top of the mountain. If you were around for Joe, Joshua, or Justin - or if you simply endured the entire Gailey era without killing yourself - you are probably at a 10 whether you realize it or not, and regardless of whatever other "excitement level" you are identifying with today.
