What’s less understandable is when a group like Georgia Tech’s secondary, which has seen incredible continuity throughout the Collins era and is arguably its single most talented position group on the roster, seemingly has gotten worse year-over-year. Even more baffling is that it’s happening under a head coach whose background is as a good defensive coordinator, and specifically one who had a strong track record of developing defensive backs prior to his arrival on the Flats.

There are four coaches that have some level of responsibility for the success of the secondary — Collins, DC Andrew Thacker, Co-DC/Safeties Coach Nate Burton, and Cornerbacks Coach Jeff Popovich. That brain trust has spent nearly 3 calendar years working with this unit, whose personnel is (again) arguably the most talented group on the roster, and whose continuity has been as good as anyone has asked for. The result? A group that’s getting shredded worse than they ever have before, looks confused on where to be, and seems to be having issues that are getting worse instead of better.

Dude do you even follow P5 CFB , the majority of P5 Assts post 1990 have similar Career Paths and Resumes?

None of that above is abnormal for an Asst Coach at this level.

Simple question:

Why do we get so many of the Fans that don't know the really simple stuff, everyone has Tablets, Laptops and screens with Tons of information yet we seem to be the only Fans that don't get the info?

This makes it harder to focus on the important stuff like raising money for FB.

Would like to see another Title in my lifetime, the Braves came through, just need GT FB, The Falcons, Hawks, and GT MBB to do their part.

You're making excuses for a Guy that hasn't paid attention to trends from the past 30 years in a Sport he is supposed to love?

I guess crude Mom Jokes are more acceptable?

I know quite a lot about football - I'm not going to say I know more than you Almighty One - but after playing it for several years and learned from coaches with varying skill levels from NFL, D1, and D2 levels, I think I know a good amount.

However, like in the strictest sense in the manufacturing world, QC is a non value added position and in the football world, it would seem the same. Why does someone get paid to do a job (and not too hot if one, might I add) that can easily be done by someone already hired? Maybe that can be a way to save money, thus raising money for the football program.

That's why I was being flippant in my response.

If it appears players are quitting on the team, bench them and give a younger player an opportunity

If players are out of position, coach them

If they are still out of position replace the player/replace the coach.

Can y'all see why that is part of the reason some of us are worried about Collins coaching ability?

I worry more that upperclassmen are laying down right now like we experienced with coach Ross.

Could be, but if they are, bench their ass and let the next guy up get experience.
I would rather see a true freshman out of position but playing hard than a senior just going through the motions.

My personal opinion is not that they are laying down as much as they are just frustrated and morally beat right now. It's got to be hard to put as much work in as they do and have very little to show for it.

I think part of this is that we have drastically overrated this secondary. The hype vs production of these safeties in particular is absurd.

It is clear that something is not right. But only a few here are allowed to say what they believe is wrong without being personally blasted by our resident smart-ass and a few others. It's fine to disagree and to offer opinions, but let's stop the personal attacks.

I’ve noticed Tre and Juanyeh arguing a good bit on the field this year. Dunno if that’s a problem or just how they work together, though.
