Fair Pay to Play Act

This is a slippery slope. I prefer college athletes lose amateur status if they seek compensation due to publicity gained from participating in amateur football. If we go down this road then it won’t be too long and the high school kids will think they should be paid to play. There needs to be a clear divide between amateurs and professionals. This applies sports like golf and tennis, where there are amateur events every week all over the country. People know they aren’t playing in those to become rich...it’s for the love of competing in their sport.

My proposal is to get rid of the 3 years removed from high school limitations to declare for the NFL draft. Athletes can play in college for an education (amateur) or go to the NFL (pro). It’s their choice...no gray area. Don’t like it, go pro officially. Not good enough? EABOD.

I agree we should try to keep amateurism in college ball... but I don't think what you're proposing will appease the people that are pushing for change.
