FALL CAMP

Is he really sticking with the cutoff hoodie nonsense?
Really? After all the goofy öööö your boy Gef wore, does this actually bother you?

That's great to hear! However, Dontae was around at the tail end of CPJ's tenure. He should remember scoring some points. That team averaged 33.6 PPG.

The next year, the team averaged 16.7 PPG, less than half.
2018, when Dontae redshirted
Scored 38 in a loss
Back to back 60 point games
49 against VPI
38 against UNC

2019 - high water mark in scoring was 28. Done three times. Once in a loss.
2020 - With Sims and Gibbs, scored 56 against Duke and 46 on Louisville. But also had 13 points or fewer three times in a game.
2021 - 45 against UNC at MBS. Also had two 30-point outings, both losses, and put up 40, in a loss. But the season will be remembered most for the two bagels at the end of the year.
2022 - high water against FBS was 28 against VPI. Thanks, Chip Long.

That was one of my favorite experiences being a Tech fan. It was like eating straight dessert for 3 hours and feeling great at the end.
I still think putting up 66 against Louisville (granted, one of those was a defensive score) and completing, what, one pass was the quintessential PJ unzipping and going to Petrino and BVG "I don't need no spider in Austrian bananas!"

Anywhoo .... I think we'll be OK at QB and RB this year and hope Faulkner and Weinke find ways to get the most out of Dontae.

Yeah, CPJ will be held in much higher esteem in 20 years from now when GT fans who never heard of or remember the propaganda surrounding the option simply look objectively at the stats and our record while he was coach. Then they’ll see the next 4 years and just assume CPJ died prior to 2019 because no school would be dumb enough to run off a coach who did that at GT.

We ran off a hall of Fame coach for Bozo's circus. It was fantastic.

That decision obviously looks worse considering the Clown's ineptitude, but it looked that CPJ was sliding, which wasn't helped by rule changes and just plain bad luck.

I don't think that decline and the new landscape of CFB would have been kind to CPJ in this new era.

Certainly wish he could have stayed longer.

Honestly, he'd checked out long before he retired. I blame the BP medication, but it doesn't really matter, he wouldn't have stuck around with NIL and free transfer madness.
