FALL CAMP

At the scrimmage today George O’ Leary was there. Imagine being Brent Key and Marco Coleman at this thing. How crazy would it be for them to coach while theirs was watching?!
It's been 30 years since he coached Marco and 20 plus since he coached Key. Probably not a big deal to them anymore. I'll bet they're glad to have him out there and maybe pick his brain a little bit afterward. But damn if the game hadn't changed since even O'Leary last coached Tech.
Didn't GOL come to see practice or scrimmage when Clown was in charge?

Key coached with him for 10 years. GOL means a ton to Key. He coaching is likely the model for what Key is trying to do here. If he can re-create that then GT will be very good.

O'Leary wanted clown. He was his boy. Now his boy is Key. Maybe this is another chance to resurrect his place at GT?

O'Leary had it all. Loved by GT, pulled us out of a ditch, but as soon as he had a chance to cash in he dropped us like a bad habit.

He brought us some very good memories in the past, but if not for Fridge he may have given us none. Then there's the Vaitekunas thing.

Don't hate the man, but damn did he ever screw up with GT, 3 times now- Vaitekunas, ND & then clown. I think he just needs to go away. Key doesn't need him.

Yeah, CPJ will be held in much higher esteem in 20 years from now when GT fans who never heard of or remember the propaganda surrounding the option simply look objectively at the stats and our record while he was coach. Then they’ll see the next 4 years and just assume CPJ died prior to 2019 because no school would be dumb enough to run off a coach who did that at GT.
TRUTH!

ADTSTAN wanted Clown. He was his boy. O'leary thought highly of Key also. ADTSTAN, Clown, Key, GOL were all at UCF together.

Just looked. There’s another inconsistency on Clown’s wiki page. It says he was RC at UCF in 2008/09, however Key’s says the same thing.

Did he, or was that just what dipshit told everyone? I call bullshit.

You don't "learn under Coach Saban and Coach O'Leary, two the best to ever do it" and then go out and do 180 degrees of everything they're about.

Collins was with O’Leary for 1 year, 2 different times. He was with Saban for 1 season. You don’t learn much that way; some but that was not the blueprint he used at Tech. Collins didn’t have a clue how to run a program. He had a lot of ideas but most were crap.

Key is the opposite. He fully knows how GOL ran a program, he picked up a few things under Saban. I’m sure Key knows how to be HC and how to run a successful program. But knowing and doing are 2 different things; I have high hopes.

I'm not going to waste a bunch of time digging up old news articles, but here's one. Peterson, Stansbury, O'Leary are all responsible for that imbecile wrecking our program. Who's the most responsible, yeah the AD probably or likely. Peterson's a clown as was as bad to GT as the other clown was to football, and he had to sign off on it also but he hated GT sports to I don't think that bastard cared. O'Leary provided the necessary endorsements to get you the money people & unwitting/gullible fans behind clown.

If Saban wanted clown, he would have kept him. Have the same reservations with Key. He lost a guy to GT, seems fishy. Maybe Saban didn't care because he's got tons of qualified replacements?

I think Key's the right guy based on what he has said & done, but it would go a long way to dispelling any reservations I have if we actually look like a football team this year. The jury's out on whether Key was complicit (mostly, partially, at all, etc) in clown's BS or not. I mean you have to believe the guy in charge of ruining our OL and the AHC had no culpability for anything & clown did it all by himself as Choice and Coleman quit. Seems plausible, but some results this year will go a long way.

Interview committee talked to Whisenhunt. During the middle of the interview, they came to the conclusion CKW was not the guy.
Committee met Clown. My guess is at a big table to make room for his big shoes. Clown spoke TS' language - branding, blah blah blah, though I thought branding was what happened to the cowboys at the Yellowstone when they had to do something illegal.
Your interview committee?
Petersen.
Stansbury.
And as far as I know, that's it.

apparently theres a quarterback battle.. dunno who will start.. my $$$ is on Pyron at least walking out first against louisville
KQ said it looked like Pyron was ahead of King coming out of spring. I wonder if that has held up or changed at all this month.

The clown was a micromanager. Key wasn't complicit with the clown. By the time Key turned down USCjr, he likely saw the writing on the wall and the potential opening that would exist here. There's a reason Marco Coleman left and came back. Also, the OL was decimated by injuries most of the time. This year, we finally have the guys in there with some depth, so this year should really give us the info we need.

Saban losing key isn't fishy, especially since Key played here. It obvious Key cares.

I wonder if O'Leary 'wanted' Collins or if he was just asked by reporters after the fact what the thought of Collins and he said nice things. Regardless, unlike Key, he was just primarily a recruiter under O'Leary and Collins could do that.

Your scenario and the Coleman angle is why I’m personally giving Key a pass. I hope so for all our sakes because crap football is hard to watch. That previous regime was unfit for their roles. Hope I never see Stansbury, Peterson or clown ever again.

Good football is like porn, you know it when you see it. I hope I see it again on The Flats.
