UNC has fake stuff too. But theirs doesn’t look like complete ass like ours does. How did Tud öööö that up so bad?
We’ll never get back grass because it uses less water and gets the administration eco good boy points
It was hard to watch the game in person. Seriously. Just the glare off of it from the sun and being in the upper north. It was harsh. Unpleasant. It really did look bad on TV. Almost shiny. I still have a handful of grass from the 99 Jasper Thanks game - never thought it would be an antique.
It looked very bad in person too. I even moved from my seats to another section because I thought it was angles like JJ explained to me one time about colors and angles and öööö but nope, it still looks bad.It really did look bad on TV. Our turf looks bad because we installed cheap ass Shaw turf. FieldTurf or AstroTurf are superior.UNC’s field looks damned close to what real grass looks like. In fact, their field looks like our freshly cut grass used to look before games. The only tell was the rubber pellets rooster tails when people drag their feet. I don’t think I would care as much if our field looked like UNC’s.
Our turf looks bad because it’s inconsistent in color. The green is too dark and the fibers get turned in different directions making it look mottled. That and we apparently don’t ever redistribute the rubber pellets because there are areas where they are visible. We also don’t paint the field - apparently thinking that once preseason is enough.
And we probably did it for the same reason that we wore Russell for years after it was relegated to Walmart - some alumni affiliation with a garbage product. Our turf looks bad because we installed cheap ass Shaw turf. FieldTurf or AstroTurf are superior.
We are the Dollar General of CFB

I used to think the uniform whining was ridiculous. Now we have grown men crying about what the turf looks like. After every game, like somehow it is going to change from one game to the next.

I liked when we couldn't get the down and distance correct on the board. 1st and goal from our own 40.It's not our fault your eyes are broken. I've been to almost every game since we installed turf and have never really noticed anything worth complaining about with the turf other than the ridiculous blue paint all over the field.
The field looked particularly ööööty and atrocious yesterday. Was one of the first things I noticed. It literally looked like a bad 80s astroturf carpet. ööööing horrible. The best I can figure is that they took the complaints about it looking brown in the beginning of the season, made an effort to clean that up, and completely ööööed it up even more.
Everything about the experience yesterday seemed even more cracker jack than usual. Our PA sucks, and is ridiculous. The constant blaring of horrible music in every last second of empty space. We should not be regressing in all these things but we are.

Apparently one of the biggest factors for what the grass looks like is the filler chosen. Tech went with coconut husk which is brown. I can’t remember what I was told the advantage of coconut husk is, but it obviously looks awful.
