Finnebaum today

Plus, Lower East was HUGE! From the end zone to the 50 yard line, and there were no luxury boxes so it ran up under Upper East. Significantly more seats than in Lower North now.
Cheerleaders had a huge PA system and could really get some noise going.

To pile on here, Georgia’s recruiting budget is larger than what we were paying Collins, Key, and Long combined this season. Take into account the coaching salaries, the NIL money… We are not in the same league anymore.

The first order of business for the program in my opinion is to shore up our poor financial position and start consistently putting a product on the field that resembles a football team.

Unless GT’s version of Phil Knight shows up at the AA with a publishers clearinghouse check, it will take a long period of sustained relevance to put GT back on the map. A Frank Beamer or Bobby Bowden. Someone who can widen the fanbase.
I agree, but that’s not happening quickly. Atlanta is a funny town for college sports. Its a magnet for many surrounding states. Speaking of which, at the present time, GT gets to compete against UGAg, Bama, and Clem’s Son all at or near peak, plus rapidly rising UT, UNC, and F$U programs. That’s peak or rising programs all 5 surrounding states and GA itself - all of which recruit GA very hard. It is no easy task, and while we should indeed rise, we shouldn’t expect a quick rise if we’re trying again now to recruit the same athletes they are. Just my $.02 worth.

Even with those built in advantages, it took Dabo and Smart 8 and 6 years to win a national championship respectively. Really shows how sustained success needs to be to get there.

Well I was - did not renew this year - will renew this year for sure -
I did not renew this year - After Clown Collins and ADTstan shown the door - I went to UVA & FSU...Not sure I will renew next year....My fear is that we traded a 3 win coach for a 5 win coach, however maybe Key gets a real OC /OL/WR coach in and creates an identity that I can get behind. I would renew. I also know my son (who will be a senior next year and his Frat) would be excited to go bowling! I hope Key is the man.

Yeah a bowl would be nice….my son will also be a senior and it’s been a rough 3 years

Liked Key hire however does not feel so good about the future of Ga Tech program,

Guess he thinks we are broke, get no attendance, and not a football school - however he did not elaborate except to go on and say nice things about Key.
He’s a turd.

I would counter his point of “…not feeling so good about the future of Georgia Tech football” with “ I don’t feel so good about the future of college football .”

There’s nothing college about it. and I think, while the players may make money, it will ultimately have the effect of making the sport less popular.

The vast majority of the football players for The University of Georgia, and The University of Alabama will never be exposed to even 1/10th the academic challenge that Joe Hamilton had to contend with at GT.
The University of Georgia used to occasionally lose football players to academic casualties. I don’t think they’ve lost one since Kirby arrived.
There’s nothing college about it anymore. It’s been ruined by $$$ and greed. There has been a decay in CFB. Sad but true.

They did a really bad job of taking pic of Bobby Dodd thought the years back then
