Fire Collins

Collins has never coached a good offense. He's probably too much of a nice guy to fire Patenaude and hire someone with a good track record.

Say what you will about Paul Johnson defenses, but at least he fired poor performing coordinators.
 
Watching the replay. I think a two back set with one back flowing the opposite of the play (decoy flowing with), would have gotten a lot of yards. NIU completely selling out on run plays. That is why the QB picked up good yardage running naked on the backside.

that ass hole fired well performing DCs too

Dave Womack comes to mind?
 
The "big money guys" at Tech did their best to keep CPJ from having sufficient funds to go after any well-performing DCs. Don't blame those mostly crappy D's on Johnson; he didn't get the support from the "big money guys" he needed or deserved. And they are the jerks who always want us to hire "Tech men" as coaches. Well, I hope they're satisfied now with where that got us.

From what I remember about the salaries, we didn't exactly "open the pocketbook" for these coordinators either.

Our one speed option pitch to the only carry for Dontae Smith resulted in a TD.

Wommack did fine year 1 with our most talented defense since 1990 including NFLers at all four DL positions. Once that started falling off (2009 and beyond) he sucked as much as Groh, Roof, etc.
 
It didn’t matter who the DC was during the Johnson era we simply didn’t have the jimmies and joes. We still don’t have the jimmies and joes up front and that is Collins fault.

Hard to argue with this, he's done both now, regardless of the Clemson and unc performances.
