Fire Collins

I don't recall an opposing coach call out the opponent's toughness at halftime before, and then follow it up after the game. That a coach from a lower level conference would do that is just stunning - and as it turns out accurate. NIU really expected to win and they didn't beat anyone last year. A winless team talking serious smack and backing it up. Words just fail to describe this.

We looked soft as öööö last night at positions that need to be mean. OL was getting thrown around and manhandled. DL was invisible. Defense as a whole never seems to light anybody up - we spent most of the night with three guys chasing their running back from the back side of the play until a DB chased him out of bounds.

It seems like we’ve made strides in S&C, but we don’t seem to have anybody tough and mean like we did under, say, Gailey or O’Leary. Can you recruit or coach being a nasty MFer?

If iron sharpens iron, what does lead do to lead?

Let’s stop with the S&C props. If Geoff never peddled it, would you believe it in our play? Be honest.

That is probably the most telling stat of the game. Our O-line and D-line have not made ANY progress. Maybe even regressed. How is this possible?
If anyone knew the KEY to this riddle we’d be on the road to recovery.

I don’t listen to anything Coach Buzzword says. The players do look bigger and stronger, which is impressive, but maybe that doesn’t translate to “football strength.” Maybe it’s a “looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane” situation where we need a nasty streak to go with the S&C.

Our hyping about our S&C has made strides.
But after three years of this S&C program, if you're getting rag dolled, time to take a look at WTH you're doing S&C wise.
Of course, everything about the program right now is in need of a top-down review. And there's no time to do it because we're into the season.

Time to stop making all these cool videos and worry about getting ready to win ballgames.

They don't look bigger and stronger.
They just look bigger
And by that I mean our linemen look fat.
Maybe some egg white omelets would do them good.

The saddest thing is that there is no hope. Collins is going to turn this around?? Right!

I went thru a hurricane some time back. It was supposed to come in 150 miles away, but it just kept drifting in my direction, and drifting, and drifting. The forecasters had sounded so competent and knowledgeable. The turn was always just about to start. Hard to say exactly when my point of no return was, but eventually I realized it was going to be really bad. And it was. Then came the clean-up.

Anybody know a good PTSD doctor?

I hope your post is on the tv screens above each players locker for the next year.

That’s your position? Get a clue. The problem starts and ends with Collins.

This is exactly what the fanbase that loved Collins and hated CPJ wanted. They can take their medicine good and hard. They wanted wins on Rivals and Scouts. They wanted players with multiple P5 offers. They wanted guys who ‘looked the part getting off the bus’. Collins is delivering that. Gone are the days of winning with the less talented team.

They wanted the Dabo model. Here it is. Dabo didn’t hit it big until Clemson brought in top shelf coordinators and moved him to a recruiter/motivator roll. Three teams in the ACC are using this model (Clemson, UNC, GT).

Switching coordinators is a feature of this model. The coordinators we have now have multiple games where we were the more talented team and lost. They should have about 8 games to get their öööö together or start packing their bags.

Other teams used to be in pain after our weakling players beat them up during games. Now we got BpBuSp and we’re the ones getting our asses kicked. Maybe the old guy wasn’t so bad?

I know we cant let him go due to cost but he is his own worst enemy.......its great to fire up fan base prior to the season but...........when you lay a egg then the yr is probably going to be a bad one..........I think he needs another yr but he has better players than last yr but need some studs on both sides of the ball..we still make dumb mistakes and they still kill us....just my thought after 68 yrs as a tech fan

Joe Biden could've coached our team to a win better than Geoff Collins

We could have pounded them into submission the entire game, but decided to get cute and prove we're a "balanced" team. A team of trained monkeys could run a smarter offense.
You idiot. We don’t need trained monkeys to run a smarter offense. We need trained coaches and trained players. Where is Northern Illinois anyway?
