Look, get real. CGC isn't going anywhere, because we can't afford to buy out 4 years of his contract. But who is the reason he has such a long contract? Todd Stansbury, and we can and should kick his ass to the curb. This idiot hired a joke who barely had a good record at TEMPLE and has effectively given GT the death penalty. Bring someone competent in who can begin to put the pieces in place to get a good coach the second we can.

I think it was always gonna take a long contract to get anyone to sign up for this project so I don’t get the vitriol around it.

This has been confirmed by folks with sources.

TStan is raising $. Vast improvement over the last guy. I get not believing in Collins at this point, but burning down the whole house in a tantrum is stupid.

I worry that we're reaching the point where the perception that the program is failing becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. That is, if people think we suck we lose players to transfer and recruits.

A long contract for a proven coach is one thing. A long term contract for a nobody is absurd.
Its really a BS argument "there were zero coaches who would take this job on a standard 4 year contract." And to say otherwise is an insult to everyone's intelligence. Maybe 7 years is what it took to get a sitting head coach but I have no doubt Tech could have hired an ACC-level coordinator, we couldn't have had worse results...

How many 3 win seasons in a row does it take before we no longer think we suck, but we actually do suck?
It doesn't matter because if we don't start winning fast we will suck in the coming years–we won't get good recruits and will lose players to transfer.

I remember when I was in high school, Sports Illustrated did an article about how great and stable Tech football was. "Only three coaches in its history, and they all won over 100 games." Well, whatever that was, we've got the opposite of it now. The only thing worse than how pathetic things are is that nobody will admit how pathetic things really are.

If we were going to have to give a long term contract anyway, then why not go for the best, instead of a nobody?

Who among the best wanted it? Whiz interviewed but supposedly turned it down. Other guys like Norvell said no when approached. If you can't offer a coach an opportunity to win right away, you have to offer him a ton of money. We could offer neither.
