who think that a win like the one GT had against Clemson and the general play GT had in that game won't win championships....your wrong for the most part.

Back in Ohio State's last championship when they beat Miami, take a look at their wins:

Vs. Unranked Cincinnati: 23-19
Vs. Unranked Wisconsin: 19-14
Vs. Unranked Perdue: 10-6
Vs. Unranked Illinois:23-16

That was four close games against unranked opponents with much less talent than that Clemson team we played on Thursday.

Another example: 2004 USC:

Vs. Unranked Stanford 31-28
Vs. Unranked California 23-17
Vs. Unranked Oregon St. 28-20
Vs. Unranked UCLA- 29-24

There again are some pretty close games against unranked opponents.

At the end of the day they got the W, just like GT did, and won the national championship. That's all that matters at the end of the day..."W".

I think that's a good point. The best coaches not only put themselves in a position to win all games, especially when their team sleeps a little, but to eak out the close ones. 2-0 is 2-0.

We had drives in the 4th quarter to tie and take the lead. Both led by a QB having a horrible game up to that point.

We outgained the other team.

We had one very bad quarter.

We had one very good quarter.

And we won. It is fine to talk about our weaknesses. But I'm glad a lot of folks, like you, are keeping them in perspective. That said, I still think we go 9-3 or 10-2. I hope we do more.

Well, the point I keep making is that that was a very good football team we beat. See if we aren't pretty damned happy with a three point win later in the year.

At some point the announcers said something like "the ACC may not have any national contenders, but they have a lot of pretty good teams." I'm thinking, well, it's a little early to say there aren't any national contenders this year. We might have been looking at two Thursday night.

Very good point. I never thought of it that way. I am just getting sick that ESPN is so f-ing biased. I am watching College Gameday right now. They think college football = SEC + USCw + Ohio State + Texas + OU + Boise St.

Close minded as all heck. You would think Lee Corso would at least have some sense that teams and conferences are always having times and bad times. It just so happens that the past decade has been dominated by SEC. With the amount of worship and spin that they are putting on the SEC, it will help with all SEC recruiting, merchandise sales, etc. Meanwhile hurting everyone else.

I'm more concerned with execution and attitude, not the score board.

I am calling BS on that statement. If we have excellent execution and attitude and yet lose I bet dollars to doughnuts that you'd be the primary complainer.

Most of us are concerned about both, but it is nuts to say you aren't concerned with the scoreboard.
