Former Tech QB balling out in his bowl game

If you look around, a lot of teams like Clemson and Auburn don't even have a decent starter. We're lucky to only have to worry about backup.
It’s just odds & we’re probably worse off than most with our swiss cheese OL. I don’t blame QBs not wanting to sit behind Sims for 2-3 more years, but we need to get a QB developmental pipeline going same as other critical areas. Not our only problem and likely not the biggest, but we need to manage the entire roster better not just DL and OL. We’ve literally wiped what little depth we had out in 3 years.

We had OL depth 3 years ago?

We had OL depth 3 years ago?

Seeing as how some of those guys are still being projected to play next year the answer is yes.

I agree with you though that LJ should look at a school like Stanford or Duke if he can land there. I wonder how hard it is to portal to an Ivy League school?

We had 7-6 depth, now we got 3-9 depth. Yeah, everybody wants Bammer’s OL but we had GT’s OL. Lose a top OL, run off those in the pipe because “they weren’t exactly what we wanted”. Well, those guys were better having than not & Key, etc hasn’t been able to recruit like he advertised. He recklessly thinned out the ranks thinking he’d get top OL coming here. It hasn’t worked like he dreamed and now we all know why. We needed the solid workhorses we’d managed to recruit & built on that not burn the house down and hoped elite OL fell out of the sky to bail us out. We’re on year 4 now and we’re still relying on the allegedly crappy walk-on players the coach you hate dredged up. Sad.

The OL has sucked (better than it was in 2019 and 2020, though). The real issue is going from a very mobile QB to losing an entire dimension of offense that can cover for bad OL play
