FSU QB kicked off

He had an awful OL. I think he would have been a good quarterback with a better OL.

That sums up College Football, really.

Were I a head coach, QB would be lower on my recruiting totem pole than OG, DT, and OT.

I agree. I have always argued here that we should take a disproportionate amount of OL and DT's. Instead we have been underrecruiting and taking a disproportionate amount of A backs. And our Defense in particular has suffered terribly due to it.

Meh, you could just as easily make an argument the other way around. Our two great seasons under CPJ featured 4* QBs who were very talented. We had Shaq Mason for 4 years, but it wasn't until Justin Thomas took over at QB that we took off.

As far as A-backs go, look at 2015. We were playing walkons and true freshmen all over the field at A-back due to lack of depth.

And look at QB in 2017/2018. When you end up having to start TaQuon Marshall for 2 years straight, I don't think it makes sense to say we recruited too many QBs.

I would get as many James Graham, AJ Gray, TaQuon Marshall, Justin Thomas, Josh Nesbitt, etc. type players that I could. All of them were savvy players and the best player on their high school team and could easily play another position if QB doesn't work out.

Maybe less so right now due to roster imbalance with the offense switch, but I would definitely not de-emphasize QB recruiting. That position often determines the success of you team.

2015 was the first year without Shaq-Diesel in 4 years, and we had an abysmal season. I think he was the linchpin of our 2014 offense, moreso than JT5. I submit as evidence our brutal short-run game with the ball being carried by a converted WR and a converted QB splitting time as undersized B-backs. Shaq opened up a whole world of options for our offense and made JT5 better.

Nesbitt enjoyed the push from Sean Bedford, Omoregie Uzzi and Cord Howard. All were all-ACC or played professionally.

I'm not saying you can recruit too many quarterbacks, but rather that I'd prefer to get our first picks on the line. College football is won and lost in the trenches.

I never said anything about QB. To be more specific even our potential DTs enddd up on the OL. Tech has a tough time getting mean uglies, we should take more and improve our success odds.

I thought from the thread title that maybe we had the next George Blanda in Tallahassee

you might be thinking of Blackman, the other QB, who looked like he needed to run around in the shower to get wet.
Damn. You weren't kidding.

But think of having 3 Shaquille Masons. Howard, Lynch, Searcy, Cottrell, Oliver, and Marshall might have run wild.

Damn shame that FSU isn't our permanent cross over rival. Would have many more victories against that dysfunctional program.

So, does this coach last the full upcoming season?
