FUBO TV adds Bally RSN

Lol at first I thought FUBU was going into the TV business at first glance.

Bally Sports drops Raycom-produced ACC games
The dreaded “RSN” designation is about to be a thing of the past. Bankrupt Sinclair subsidiary Diamond Sports Group tells rights holder Raycom to find another distribution arrangement for the Atlantic Coast Conference. A motion was filed on Wednesday to reject the contract with Raycom for the ACC games.

On Wednesday, Diamond’s lawyers filed a motion signaling an official rejection of the ACC contract. Unlike the awkwardly hostile language between Major League Baseball and Sinclair/Diamond, the separation with Raycom sounds amicable.

“Recently, Raycom requested that the Debtors promptly reject the Raycom Agreement so that Raycom could initiate the process of seeking a new partner for broadcasting future ACC events,” reads the court motion. “The parties’ respective counsel have worked closely with one another in preparing this motion, and Raycom supports the relief requested in this motion.”

@coit think its just matter of time now on when YTTV and other streamers add regionals.

Diamond is in bankruptcy trying to shed around $8 billion in debt, with Sinclair gravely miscalculating the severity and impact of future cord-cutting when it paid $10.6 billion for 19 Fox SportsNet channels back in 2019 ... then blithely chose to embark on several campaigns of stock buybacks instead of paying down this debt.

No, Sinclair gravely ööööed up their handling of distribution. They created hurdles such that even people who really want to watch the games don’t watch them. Now they’re getting killed by lack of viewership.

:surprised face:

It's almost like it is super easy to pirate high quality streams these days so there is no point in paying a premium just for their product. Holding out for high carrier fees instead of working to get your product on as many services/packages as possible seems backwards at this point. Bally hasn't seen a penny from me yet the family has been enjoying their prized content all year.

This would seem to be good news. One less streaming service to gatekeep coverage. But what the hell do I know. I still think that Louisville game could make or break how much TV coverage Tech gets in 2023. Win and Tech is a team to watch, lose and Tech won't even make the Ocho.

How do you pirate the Braves?

I didn’t say that. I said why stay with a provider that doesn’t have the channels you want. I don’t know what to make of this news.

and you still get a 1 minute delay on your stream so all your friends with cable can discuss plays in the group chat before you even get to watch it.
Man my buddies in a Braves group text hate me. During the 2021 playoff run I had to delay my excited texts by about 30 seconds

I was there for every game at home in October. The best birthday month ever. I broke up with my girlfriend during the playoffs too. She wanted to go to Bill Burr comedy show at the battery same night we had Dodgers coming in for NLCS. And it was my birthday. What kind of a psycho does that?

The Braves did you a bigger favor than just win a championship my man

It wasn’t just the Braves. The turning point for her was when she said she doesn’t want my dog in the office room of my apartment because she wanted to bring her computer in there. I said Dagsby lives here this is his apartment, you don’t. I broke up with her the next day when she was faking a heart attack and wanted me to take her to the hospital.

Whoa, whoa, whoa…. Wait a second. Is she an executive assistant?

This "sensational" headline is not accurate to the actual facts. Raycom was the one that wanted out even before bankruptcy and now they have worked together with Bally to develop a mutually agreeable plan. Quote from the article:

" "Recently, Raycom requested that the Debtors promptly reject the Raycom Agreement so that Raycom could initiate the process of seeking a new partner for broadcasting future ACC events," reads the court motion. "The parties’ respective counsel have worked closely with one another in preparing this motion, and Raycom supports the relief requested in this motion." "

So, those that hate Bally will be happy. Either these games will now be viewable via ACC Network Extra or ESPN+ or perhaps another platform.

Not sure if this impacts games this Fall or not.

I love Bill Burr, but that's a no brainer. Braves/Dodgers is always a go, especially in the playoffs. We old farts remember when that was quite the rivalry.
