I posted this in "Pro sports and sports news" but it is worth dropping here too I guess. It's regarding ESPN's recent cuts and the possibility of bankruptcy and what that might mean to the ACC GOR deal.Spectrum to offer call package without RSNs.
Spectrum Will Offer a Cheaper TV Package Without RSNs in A Major Blow to Bally Sports | Cord Cutters News
Regional Sports Networks, or RSNs are struggling. AT&T SportsNet will reportedly shut down later this year. Bally Sports RSNs are in bankruptcy, and their future is very much unknown right now. LOL WUTThe executive said that wouldn't happen because a la carte would require dozens if not hundreds of options and the cost of running a streaming service is too expensive to justify that.
LOL WUT
Each streaming User profile has a boolean value for each channel. When that User tries to use a channel, the system checks the boolean for that channel on the User profile. True = Show the Channel. False = Don't Show the Channel.
Doesn't seem like rocket surgery to me.
Damn, I like that. Local channels + 15 cable is probably the most any cable user actually consumes.I just signed up for Spectrum and the cable package that I chose provides all the local channels (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, etc.) and it allows you to pick 15 cable channels, Bally Sports included.
This seems like the best option and likely what other cable providers will emulate.
Would be great if there were a provider that could offer a single interface to access multiple streaming platform content within. So within my navigation I could access Paramount or Apple content seamlessly as if I’m moving through channels. The executive said that wouldn't happen because a la carte would require dozens if not hundreds of options and the cost of running a streaming service is too expensive to justify that. We'll see where it goes. I prefer the control over a la carte, but it's annoying as hell that sometimes I need Paramount+ to watch soccer, sometimes Peacock, sometimes USA network, sometimes FS1, sometimes Apple TV+, etc.
