Full Steam Ahead hi-res?

I have never met a "classic America-hating liberal," and though I recognize that the "go live in France" meme is a particularly fine example of right-wing political correctness, I find it a very limp political attack. Why not "go live in Afghanistan," where there are genuine America-hating Taliban and al-Quaeda types? Is it because France actually is a pillar of Western civilization, which is what the right-wing really hates? All those ideas and freedoms? All that rejection of selfishness and smugness?

wrong board for this, but i never said anything about saving the world or any of the imaginary things that you invented in your head about me and my opinions like hating americans (i am one, btw)

secondly, while i agree plants could consume the CO2 if it wasnt the case that whereever people PRODUCE the largest amounts of CO2 is where they HAVE ALREADY DESTROYED the plants.

thirdly, while your claim of "only adding minutes fractional percentages" seems to be logical, it is in fact NOT logical b/c as you might note, things can react NON-LINEAR. Take as an example you body temperature. If i change it 1* that is only ~1%, but a few degrees change can kill you. Maybe (actually, likely) there is a "sweet spot" for the ratio of the atmospheric gases and a slight change in one could dramatically affect the balance.

fourth, while i dont necessarily agree with you about your characterization that "there is just as much evidence for cooling as for warming," i do realize that there is not perfect data, and there is conflicting data, and there is not enough data on the cooling/warming/whatevering. basically - i dont care whether the evidence for that exists or not. this is what does exist: higher rates of skin cancer, higher incedence of lung disease, higher rates of air pollution, etc etc

so, while you may classify me into some group that i dont really know, the fact is i am concerned with:
  • low-level ozone in Atlanta where the weather forecast says "dont go outside today"
  • significant increases in skin cancer rates
  • higher asthma rates
  • living in smog
  • and all the other consequences that are already happening
these are all things that affect the QUALITY of life of humans on Earth, not protecting some species or talking about the end of the planet -- i think the planet will be fine, but i would like my kids to have a less polluted environment, and learn how to treat things with RESPECT.

IMO your dumb catchphrase is disrespectful

Dude, you said it yourself "typical brash American rude-ass"

That's what you and most liberals really think about the majority of Americans and it's why you guys are doing everything in your power to change the America the that founding fathers created.

Let me also address a couple more things:

Smog comes from CO, Ozone, and Particulates
Low level O-zone comes from NO2
Ozone depletion is caused by CFC's
CO2 does not kill plants
Higher Asthma and Skin Cancer can just as easily be attributed to thousands of reasons.

While I know and agree that there are tons of inhealthy pullutants, like the ones listed above, released in our atmosphere every single day, CO2 is just not one of them. You can not name one specific instance of CO2 causing a nagative impact on our environment. It's all a gross exaggeration of facts, statistics and evidence.

I agree about the arbitrary/cliche use of France. My bad.

However, most liberals have a deep seated disdain for what the Majority of Americans stand for. And for what we have stood for for years.

Nothing about France is free. Very little about England is free. And it's not smugness or selfishness it's freedom. I do what I want with my money, I protect myself and my country when I want to, and I damn well believe we're the best country in the world and I am not afraid to admit it.

Which liberals have this "deep-seated disdain" for what the "Majority of Americans stand for?"

I'll pick a liberal for you: George McGovern. A man so disdainful of America that he flew a bomber for us in WWII.

Now you pick one.

I think you have made a silly, indefensible remark.

Barack O'bama who felt the need to apologize or America's Ignorance....

Ur turn....

Jeremiah Wright, who claimed 9/11 was America's chickens coming home to roost.

Bill Ayers who murdered 2 police officers protesting Vietnam.

Neither Bill Ayers nor Jeremiah Wright qualify as a liberal (one is a Baptist minister, the other a radical) I don't know what apology by Obama you refer to.

If we were highlighting our game-changing players shouldn't D. Thomas also be in that poster?

But seriously, did anyone every find a high res of this? I went to the link above but did not find it. Maybe i did not look hard enough.

Bill Ayers is definitely a Liberal, Jeremiah Wright is maybe borderline. But he would claim liberalism as his idealogy.

Michelle O'bama, on Barack's acceptance of the dem nomination said "For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country".

That's somewhat anti-american if you ask me.

A "Liberal?" You mean Ayers belongs to the Liberal Party? I doubt Wright would claim liberality as his ideology. Generally, America-haters fear liberalism more than anything, because liberalism is unafraid of contrary ideas.

So Mrs. Obama made a silly remark while reflecting on the accomplishment of her husband, so what? It must be difficult for many black Americans who have studied the matter to be unambiguously proud of America. That doesn't make her an America-hater. Don't you hate what was done to black people back in the day?

Do you have anybody on the order of McGovern? (Mentioning Barack Obama as an America-hater is just pathetic.)

I normally stay the hell away from these pointless pissing contests but seriously GTLax - do you even process what Rush, Coulter, and the rest of Faux Newz spew forth before parroting it ad nauseum?

The "if you're not with us, you're against us" mentality of the Republican party is what got us in this quagmire. The politics of division is over - deal with it.

Besides - dissidence is considered a form of patriotism - just ask our founding fathers.

Thanks guys. Way to ruin the thread.

Keep it in Off-Topic next time?

I'm far to the right on most issues than most Americans, and certainly Europeans, but I would never say "nothing about France is free." They have democracy and generally have rule of law. You can start a business, hire and fire workers, etc. All of these mechanisms are much more hindered than the US, but they generally work and the French have decent standards of living. Such hyperbole only makes you look like a fool in light of the Saudi Arabias and North Koreas out there.
