Future OOC opponents announced

It's not like Dan went out and said "Let's play Gardner Webb!" By the time Army backed out most teams had their schedules set. Didn't have many options.

Bullsh!t, there were options. I'll give Rutgers as an example.

Okay, here we go again. You go find another team who has an opening on the date we got for the Army game, that wanted to play us. You really don't think DRad wanted to play Garnder Webb do you?

No I don't, but I also think that scheduling takes a little more wheeling and dealing and creativity than Gardner Webb. Let me put it this way, I don't think, but I know I could have done a better job than scheduling them.

I think DRad wanted a home game with no return game required, due to his "must have 7 home games a year" policy brought over from the SEC. So yes, he wanted to play Gardner-Webb or equivalent.

There were plenty of quality teams looking for an opponent for next year, and we were in position to play away and get a home game later:

Drad made the move he thought was best from a $$$ perspective. That is what it is, but don't try to make out like it was his only option.

Did you bother to read the article or did you just link it? It clearly says that the options are basically 1) pay a big number to get a team to play you or 2) play someone like Gardner Webb.

That's if you want a HOME game. Since we were replacing an away game, we could have scheduled an away game 2008 for a home game later. That is my point.

With the financial situation we're in here in the short term, doing that wouldn't seem to make a lot of sense because the home game likely wouldn't be returned for many years.

I was agreeing with you too long. Yes Drad, whom I love think has done an amzign job, wanted a do nothing game like GW for two reasons. He wanted a sure win for a new coach and he wanted another home game to gouge the fans to help with profitability in 2008.

If we were willing to replace Army with a home and home series, it would have been very easy to do. heck, U of L who were screwed would have probably let us back into that deal.

We were already positive cash flow as we got out of an away game to upstate NY (an expensive trip) and they paid us money. so we incurred no expected costsd and we got paid.

Drad got exactly what he wanted here. He gets paid twice (one $30 a pop for a home game) and gets a W for his new coach.
