Gailey has lied to us, we're screwed

What are you talking about...he never said Taylor was tied on the depth chart with Reggie at first string. Here is the quote from your referenced Macon Telegraph article after the Gator Bowl:

Senior Reggie Ball will open bowl practice as the starting quarterback but might not keep the job. Gailey left open the possibility of replacing Ball for the Gator Bowl. "We're not bound to anybody at any positions anywhere," Gailey said. "You go by history and you by what other people are doing in practice and go from there. There's a certain amount of continuity that goes on at that position (QB) maybe more so than at other spots," Gailey said. "It's a little tougher (to make a change) at that spot than other spots."

Lets look at that first line again...shall we...

You just read what you wanted to read...not what it said.

I read both actually, and the first sentence of the article in the AJC infers that the decision has already been made to start and play R***** B*** exclusively in the Gator Bowl and that it has been communicated to Taylor Bennett.

And no, that is not what I had ever hoped or wanted to read after the last 2 dismal QB performances.

Why even hint that the QB position is not safe, and then without even a full week of practice with Bennett getting the majority of the snaps, name R***** B*** the starter? Gailey knew all along that this is what he was going to do.

Someone grab a fire extinguisher quick, Gailey's trousers are a blazin.

Sorry...I do not see any quotes from Gailey...or any quotes from anyone else involved with GT football that states he is definitely the backup.

I just see the same AJC crap trying to stir up stuff.

Obviously Reggie is the odd's on favorite to start the Gator Bowl....it does not mean he will finish it...but it is his last game wearing white and gold and would be his 50th start.

we all knew that Ball would start this game, come on now guys. The question will be, if he struggles yet again, how quick will Chan be to pull him out. Despite the last 2 games, Ball did help lead us to a pretty good season. He deserves to start his last game.

Starts #48 & 49 should preclude him from starting or playing #50.

that is not the point of your post.

Your point was that somehow Gailey lied...you said it in the subject.

Neither article has Gailey saying Reggie isn't the starter...and the first article Gailey says Reggie enters bowl practice as the starter.

Start another thread if you want to discuss the merits of RB.

Reggie Ball should start. Taylor Bennett should play some too. What's all this lying business?

Taylor Bennett hasn't become Georgia Tech's starting quarterback yet. He has been told he'll be Reggie Ball's backup for one more game.

This is apparently the AJC line that's creating the controversy. I'm wondering what was Taylor's exact quote about being the backup, or more specifically, what was Chan's exact quote to Taylor about being the backup?

Chan saying that Reggie's "starting bowl practices as the starter" could easily be read by the AJC as Reggie starting the Gator Bowl again.

The point is that Gailey hinted that R***** B*** either might not start or might not play in the Gator Bowl, i.e. that the job was not safe. Now after only two weekend practices we find out that R***** B*** is in fact going to be the starter, and will also most likely take all the snaps in the Gator Bowl.

I am convinced that Gailey had no intention of putting Bennett in to play in the Gator Bowl and only floated that little tidbit that I cited from the Telegraph article, for the consumption of righteoulsy indignant fans tired of poor QB play from the starter.
He had no intention of giving Bennett a shot.
Duplicitious, to say the least.

Your ass should be thrown off of this board for not typing the name of an S/A that has worked his butt off for us for four years. You should be embarassed about it and need to retract and apologize for being such a moron.

JJacket, here's a golf clap for the 4 years that that person has given to Tech. I maintain that I have not wanted to see that person in a Tech uniform again since his 3rd (okay 4th) and final piss poor performance vs. UGA.
But this thread is about Gailey's duplicity.

So insulting Reggie Ball is the proper means to voice your displeasure at Chan Gailey. And you can take your sarcastic "golf clap" and stick it up your spoiled suburbanite ass.

good grief....so we have now downgraded from lied to hinted now. Can you change your subject line then?

I would also add he was very clear stating...as I quoted above...that the QB position would be the harest one to knock the starter out of.

I do not disagree about a change being made...I would like to shake things up at the QB spot...but CG did not lie.

I think there are a whole lot of "coaches" here that would like to see a change at quarterback and therefore offense in general. I doubt you can tie Gailey to LYING however.

I am as upset as any but I don't see where Gailey lied. In reality, most of us lied to ourselves in believing what we wanted to believe.

I would like to add that I'd like a change at QB not because of the last two games but because of our QB's play since the Clemson game.

There was no doubt in my mind that CCG would be starting Reggie but I think if Reggie starts sucking it up then we will definately see TB in the game.

RB will start the Gator Bowl. This is not startling news to me. What I will be watching for though, is if RB struggles, will CCG pull him in favor of TB.

If RB comes out and has a good game then there is nothing to debate about. I am not a RB fan, his struggles at the position have hurt this team, but where I truly dislike him is in his demeanor on the field.

I hope RB comes out and has a good game and leads GT to a Gator Bowl victory and a 10 win season. I am a GT fan and I want to see my team do well, in spite of my feelings for the QB.

We all know Gailey lied when he said next level, beat UGag, win an ACC, so it's easy to make the leap to Gailey lied about the QB situation. I doubt there is a GT fan/man who does not wish our QB to have a good game. The problem is we've all seen our QB for 4 years now and many if not most have their doubts about him.

THIS is your interpretation and yours alone:

The only person exhibiting unethical behavior here is YOU. The only lies being told are by YOU in your endless campaign to smear Gailey.

There has never been a word spoken by anyone with decision-making authority to lead anyone to believe Reggie would not start the Gator Bowl. Also, there has never been a word spoken by anyone with decision-making authority to lead anyone to believe Taylor will not play.

Knock it off, you're showing your butt.

How can someone LIE about goals?

Do you not believe beating UGA and winning the ACC are Gailey's goals? Is he a liar because we haven't achieved those goals, or is he just unsuccessful?

My pet peeve on message boards is posters who attribute motive and intent to coaches and players based on NOTHING. Casting aspersions on someone's character is a very unethical practice. You and paramedic are a pair.
