Gaudin

You guys are like scorned lovers still butthurt years after the breakup.

Let it go.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Brandon is good, but Wes was great.

If Brandon had a southern accent he'd be easier to listen to.

There are some people who just like doing radio and I think Brandon Gaudin is one of those people. I could be completely wrong, but that's just the sense I get. I think he'll stay as long as Johnson does, and then depending on the relationship with the next coach make a decision on moving on or not.

I don't think Wes was a non-homer. He was really good. Hence why people decided to give him bigger and better opportunities.

I gusss the "crappy game" this week is Georgia Tech at Virginia on Saturday. See you guys at 3 p.m.

Thanks for your continued interest and suppport...

Wes.

well in all fairness...it is 2, 5-loss teams...but Charlottesville is lovely this time of year.

I just looked through the whole schedule and here are some crappier games:

(3-5) Nebraska @ (1-7)Purdue...ugh...
(3-4) Idaho @ (0-7) New Mexico State
(1-6) UTSA @ (0-7) North Texas (rivalry?)
(1-6) UMASS @ (2-6) Ball State (<--probably crappiest game)

Brandon is doing a terrific job. I still love to hear Wes call a game whenever I can.

he isn't wes durham he is better IMO. Announces more of a fan/homer...and I like it. Wes was very professional, and a nice guy too i am sure, but his broadcasts were just this side of too neutral for me for a NCAA school announcer. But that helped wes do what he really wanted which was TV

So it works all around. Gaudin's calls the last two years have been better than I can remember in any one stretch...

Couldnt agree more

Wes, just promise me one thing: that you'll squeeze "What a time to be alive!" into your broadcast this weekend. Even if it's on a gain of 2 or something, I'll take it.

I think it should come when we call our second timeout of the third quarter.

I would have loved to have heard Al Ciraldo call this play---just musing!

I'm not sure if we weren't at the game if we scored or not, Remember the old Lavette calls of Lavette around the corner for 5 10 15 .......... stopped for a gain of 3 or something like that. Guadin and Sean, you could hear the passion of their call, it was awesome.

One thing I don't understand is radio guys seem better in general than TV guys. I was listening to the Westwood One broadcast of some PAC-10 game the other night and it was also better than most any TV broadcast. I guess TV producers put more emphasis on looks, name recognition or color guys to supposedly keep people from switching channels.

And it's not just football, with pretty much every major sport, the "play-by-play" and "color analyst" on TV seem to want to discuss various and sundry personal issues concerning teams, players, owners, stadium construction or local traffic and leave the viewer to do the play-by-play in their own mind. One of the benefits of loss of hearing is not having to put up with such TV tripe. Have seen enough sports in my life to figure out what's going on with announcer assistance.

This has become my favorite thread of the weekend.

It isn't every day you get internet trolled by Wes ööööing Durham!

:bowrofl:

Crappy game of the week, here we come!

go back and listen to the 2004 GT/CLEM game (calvin catch) and tell me Wes didn't love GT.

you all are a bunch of retards

I cannot stop listening to it.

This!!!!! 101.5 has been playing it this morning...I start screaming and clapping every time I hear it while driving down the road! Love Brandon Gaudin's enthusiasm for GT and "You gotta be kidding me!?!?"

We were spoiled by big Al. Ciraldo had a lucrative career away from GT and was the announcer because he liked it. Wes, we all know, is a career announcer and stayed long enough for that next step in his career. And we all know he grew up in a UNC household.

Wes bled white and gold while he was here. I still think he has a special place in his heart for Tech. I would blame his departure more on Tech and the AA than on him wanting to further his career. If the AA had "toed the rubber", we'd still have him. That said, while I miss him, Brandon does a fine job. Brandon has been blessed with many fine moments in Tech history to notch his belt with. Sadly, as much as he's been on ESPN and other national outlets in "Epic Moment" situations, I think he's going to get poached at some point in the not too distant future. Hopefully we can get Roddy back at that point...
