That's a riot. As much as Paul ribs him, this guy probably lives a secret playboy lifestyle...

Wes, just promise me one thing: that you'll squeeze "What a time to be alive!" into your broadcast this weekend. Even if it's on a gain of 2 or something, I'll take it.
I think it should come when we call our second timeout of the third quarter.

Wes bled white and gold while he was here. I still think he has a special place in his heart for Tech. I would blame his departure more on Tech and the AA than on him wanting to further his career. If the AA had "toed the rubber", we'd still have him. That said, while I miss him, Brandon does a fine job. Brandon has been blessed with many fine moments in Tech history to notch his belt with. Sadly, as much as he's been on ESPN and other national outlets in "Epic Moment" situations, I think he's going to get poached at some point in the not too distant future. Hopefully we can get Roddy back at that point...
I don't really buy the idea that Gaudin is going to be leaving for the tube. Radio and television are different beasts altogether and being great at one does not mean that you're meant for the other, they require different skill sets.
You could go back through the entirety of Wes' time here and you'd be very hard pressed to find anyone anywhere as good as him on radio, for both football and basketball. But even after his exposure and resume got a huge boost by taking the Falcons job, it wasn't an overnight thing for Wes to get a regular television gig. I don't think it's nearly as straightforward and some of you seem to think.
By Brandon getting poached, I'm more saying a big time program like an LSU or Bama will come grab him to be their "radio voice" after their current one moves on. The TV thing is definitely a different thing that needs to be cultivated in different ways.

Ooh, my mistake for using your post to make my point then, sorry about that.
As far as another program coming in, I can't speak to that. I have no idea how common something like that is or whether Gaudin would even be interested.
The truth is that GT has been blessed with a continuous string of very good announcers my whole lifetime.
I know he's done a bunch of NCAA tournament games for random teams on national broadcasts. His resume is pretty impressive for a guy as young as he is.

LSU has already poached the GaSouthern PBP guy, Chris Blair, for next year.By Brandon getting poached, I'm more saying a big time program like an LSU or Bama will come grab him to be their "radio voice" after their current one moves on. Brandon is doing a terrific job. I still love to hear Wes call a game whenever I can.
Same here. I know that as fewer and fewer games go un-televised there's little reason for most people to tune in to the radio broadcasts, but from a personal standpoint there have been many occasions during my life where I've had to rely on the radio. As good and fun as the snippets from big moments are, people should be aware that in the cases of both Wes and Brandon, we've been very, very fortunate in having a couple of guys very gifted for performing their duties during the full game.
In my experience, visualizing the action and being aware of the situation at any moment was always effortless when listening to either of them. Not every team has that and it's not easy to find.
I will usually de-volume the TV broadcast in favor of the radio call, if i can pick it up. It's a much better viewing experience.
