Geoff Collins is what happens when you order a football coach on Wish

I have been a steady Ga Tech fan for 50+ years. I cannot remember being so disappointed in a loss and the state of our football program.

Apparently hype, and pizazz trump substance in our program. Hats off to our players for their effort. Last night was a failure of Xs and Os, a failure to prepare our team, and a killer for our recruiting. As much as I enjoyed our Paul Johnson era and the triple option when it was clicking, the program had run " out of steam" and it was time for a change.

Hats off to the NIU team. They deserved to win. They were the better team, better coached, better prepared team last night.

Unfortunately we need a new coach.

Collins is a great recruiter and salesman. He is a lousy game day coach. His biggest mistake was hiring a mediocre offensive coordinator when we needed an innovator in that position.
Can we even be confident of that at this point? Where are all of these great players he's bringing in, only a handful are even playing at this point. If the talent that he inherited was so bad and what's he's bringing in so much better, why aren't more playing?

The team quit on CPJ a few times during his tenure. It was basically dependant on the QB to bring team belief or not. As an outside observer.

I remember being absolutely livid when our guys quit against UGA in 02. We did it again in 12 and 17.

In 2012 we got to watch Godhigh get power bombed and our team not do a damn thing about it.

If this season doesn’t have a radical shift will probably be seeing some quitting this year against uga as well.

Have to agree here. Feels like we are at a crossroads. We need to kill KSU by 30+ just to gain a little bit of confidence back. If we somehow lose, we will not win a single game this year.

The donors and former football players didn’t want it. I agree with you but we didn’t have the courage to dig in and take on that identity. It could’ve worked really well for us. However rules changes make it more and more difficult for option to be successful.
The TO an antique—- and a boring one to watch even under the best of circumstances. The TO is as useful in today’s college football landscape as a Hewlett-Packard 12c programmable calculator is in the Civil Engineering department at Georgia Tech. Not even the CE professors are old enough to know how to add 2+2 on one of those.

Yeah we were super boring to watch on offense, during our best years under CPJ.

Patently untrue. I was not bored when the TO was rewriting the offensive record books at Tech for the first half to 2/3 of CPJ’s tenure. The only time I really got bored was late in the game when we were drilling cupcakes by 50 or 60 points.

I was bored watching us score 6 points against Wake in the ACCCG, and I’ve been real bored watching whatever it is we’re doing now.

Not boring when we had home run hitters on the field. Never as exciting as Fridges offenses nor things like Heupel, Riley, Kiffin, Day, Freeze, Chadwell, etc run.

I do think the 30 and below crowd found it boring. I do think the 1-2 punch of Gailey ball followed by the 3O lost us a generation of potential sidewalk fans.

It’s a boring offense. If it wasn’t boring the NFL would change the rules so it could be successful and sell more tickets.

I watched all of those games. We got beat down in 12 & 17. But we didn’t quit. The team quit in 02. Absolutely, quit. The only other games were I saw GT quit were the 07 & 18 bowl games. But even those weren’t quit so much as never showed up.

Thats odd since Paul Johnson himself said they quit in 2012.

We completely mailed it in at home vs Midd Tenn ST in the 2nd half.
