Georgia State idea

Couldn't we just buy out someone's game somewhere for October 8? Maybe we could just purchase a UTC game. Their league might be open to it. Travel costs from Chattanooga to Atlanta is minimal. Or perhaps Mercer.

Stansbury needs to make it happen. Indiana seemed much more on the ball. They had this taken care of within days. Granted, they replaced with an FCS and we're trying to find an FBS.

It would be weird to play our biggest, and normally final, game of the season over Thanksgiving and then come back the next week and play what would basically be a preseason game.
Yeah. If we win against UGA though it'll be a victory lap

And we could say that the Georgia State game is the state championship

I still like my original idea in this thread. Should've emailed Stansbury

There are only 5 or 6 non-Power 5 FBS teams that can even play on Tech's bye weekend. Finding out if any of them would be interested should have taken an hour. If they really want to play somebody over not having a game, surely there are FCS teams who need the money and would take the beating.

If Paul Johnson wants to play and the team wants to play, this should have been done a week ago. Why did a team spokesman come out right away and say no replacement game was being sought? It makes it sound like CPJ wasn't consulted, which was his major problem with the last AD.

It's not that simple because you can potentially get teams to reschedule other games to open that week. Then you have to coordinate with multiple schools. Ken mentioned this possibility at the end of one of his articles.

I hear you, but they're running out of time. I think it's highly unlikely, which is a shame to me. More football always beats less football, regardless of when you play it or who it's against.

UMASS had a game with USF moved and scheduled FIU right after the Indiana-FIU game was cancelled. Why didn't Stansbury get on the phone with Bamford immediately, who was just part of Tech's administration? Trying to do it over a week later is sleeping on the job. If they don't play a 12th game, after hearing CPJ's comments, I'm going to assume it's a failure by Stansbury.

That and Papa John's in our stadium.

1. Move Georgia State - Appalachian State from 11/25 to 11/18. Both teams have an open date that Saturday.
2. Move Georgia State - Coastal Carolina from 10/7 to 11/25.
3. Play Georgia State on 10/7, our bye week before Miami.

Per the Toddcast episode #7, we tried to do this, but Georgia State couldn't get one of the two games moved. It sounds like Coastal Carolina was the unwilling party.

Boy, this season is providing all kinds of new teams for me to hate. It's too bad I won't remember, since Georgia State and Coastal Carolina are so irrelevant at every level that they're like the anti-meme of sports.

Coastal Carolina did win the CWS in 2016
