Check out the Instagram page for the gender inclusive Psi Upsilon Gamma Tau “fraternity.” After you do, do you think we’ll have any avid football fans and alumni emerge from this group?
I think we’ve lost the student body….

I can dig into RSN ratings if you like. But the bottomline is that Georgia Tech is no longer a draw for TV audiences. Wake Forest Football is a stronger brand than Georgia Tech thanks to decision made to hire Geoff Collins. Georgia Tech, which is No. 1 with 24 RSN games over the last five years only confirms this! Add in 10 ACC Network games it is clear that we are only on ESPN/ABC when we play a team that draws an audience.

Wow, I have never seen a more cherry picked stat to try to prove a point. You don't know how to use stats to make an argument, that's for sure.... if anything your database says otherwise. Sure in 2021 Wake had 3 more games on the ESPN/ABC family than we did, but that's about the gist of it. Since 2019 we have both had 9 games on that network group, they had 5 more on ACCN, we had 9 more than them on RSN, and they had 1 more than us on "other." So all in all we had 3 more games televised than they have, and theirs includes bowl games. Sounds to me like GT is the better TV draw. Also, you act like something has changed making us worse in this market since 2019. We had 11 games on RSN in CPJ's last 2 years to 13 so far in CGC's 3 years. So you are basically saying that your argument is that Wake is a stronger TV market than GT because we hired Collins, and you're using 24 games on RSN in the past 5 years as your evidence, when CPJ was responsible for nearly half of those games. Ok.

I wonder why the GT vs WCU game was passed over by RSN to air the NC State vs Charlerston Southern game if the Collins era GT is a an elite TV draw? Probably because GT is not getting the TV ratings it once did. The great news if you have an ESPN+ subscription you will be able to watch the game.

Geoff Collins talked about taking Georgia Tech back to the national conversation and being relevanent again after being hired and basically eluded to the fact the reason why Tech wasn't winning more games was due to their offense.

Looking back to 2012 we can see that CPJ avg 7.3 games per year on National TV, while CGC has avg only 3.3 games are on National TV. ( Not RSN, SECN, ACCN, Ballys)
{https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-football-tv-ratings/}

What does that mean? On Dec 17, 2013 the final ratings from the 2013 regular season of college football were released. Georgia Tech came in 45th with 1,496,000 viewers.
{https://www.goodbullhunting.com/201...ball-tv-ratings-2013-regular-season-final-sec}

Between 2015-2019 Georgia tech lost TV viewers as they dropped to 56th with 615K viewers{}

In 2021 Georgia Tech lost even more viewers as they 61st with 459K viewers. {}

Again what does this mean? Only two previous Tech coaches started with three consecutive losing seasons. Bud Carson, who succeeded Dodd, was 12-18 after Year 3. Bill Lewis, who succeeded Bobby Ross, was 11-19 when he resigned under pressure. Collins is 9-25. In his first season his team lost to Virginia Tech by 45 points. His second season his team lost to Clemson by 66. Last season his team lost to Notre Dame by 55. For Geoff Collins’ #404Takeover to have any hope of occurring, the gap must narrow. It’s hard to imagine it narrowing enough for Tech to stand a chance vs UGA anytime soon, but it would be nice to see GT be competitive for at least a half maybe even an entire game. How deep is the divide vs UGA? On Nov 26, 2021 the Bulldogs rank first in ESPN’s football power index; Tech was 79th. UGA was also first in Bill Connelly’s SP+ ratings; Tech was 85th. Georgia was also first in Brian Fremeau’s efficiency ratings for Football Outsiders; Tech was 89th. Everyone saw the results: UGA 45 GT 0

Winning Cures Everything! As Coach Collins loses his TV viewership and season ticket holders, the question becomes how many winning seasons does it take to get the season ticket holders & viewership back?

There is a lot of interesting information in your post. I am very surprised that there are not more people watching our games, especially those against Ga, Clemson and ND, since I assumed those teams had more people than that watching. I wonder how many people watch our games with Duke on those hard to find networks.

There's no doubt our viewership is down but that goes in cycles after good and bad years. The fact is you made this huge elaborate post about how Collins has ruined our TV viewership and in fact that seems to not be the case. You used Wake as an example that is a better draw than us which also doesn't seem to be the case. Now you are again moving the goalpost to comparing to NC State and using the fact that their game against a regional FCS opponent is on a regional sports network, and our game against a regional FCS opponent is not as the whole basis of the argument?

The positive take on all this is that college football will probably die in about a decade.

GT Football will have a head start on this dying business so we will have an opportunity to set the standard for whatever comes after CFB.

I would like to see the stats on StingTalk viewers 2012-2021.
Well about half the people on here say things like I no longer watch Tech football or I’m not watching as long as this or that is happening blah blah blah. I suspect they are lying. They have to watch some to know what to complain about.

Fairly interesting analysis of TV ratings across different networks, in games that don’t involve SEC, B1G, ND, bowl or CCGs from 2012- Present. Numbers are a bit all over the place, but the big things that stick out are that Oregon, FSU, Baylor, and Louisville (Lamar Jackson?) have been the biggest draws over the past decade. And that aside from Baylor, the numbers paint a concerning picture of what the nB12 will be up against in the new tv contract. All the talk around getting a better deal than the PAC would be pretty questionable if you went off of this limited data. It is interesting to think if Geoff Collins teams hadn't been so bad, maybe we are ranked higher?

Why do you always assume the last part? Show me the year-by-year data from 2012 and I'd be willing to bet CPJ's numbers were not significantly better than CGC's except maybe 2012. This is 10 years of data and you think just the last 3 is why we are so low?

I already showed you data with links, that showed we were at 1.2M viewers in 2013, 2018 600K, and last year 425K.... Not going to waste my time anymore... The data doesn't lie!

That data was also incomplete and before the ACCN was a thing. It's manipulative at best.

Ok, I concede....Geoff Collins has Georgia Tech on the rise as a National Media Draw, we are on everyone's shortlist for expansion becuase GT FB right now is the biggest TV draw in 20 years!

Do you see how you act like it is all one way or another? Nowhere did I say CGC has us on the rise or that his ratings are better than CPJ's. I even conceded that they are likely worse, but if you care to try to comprehend it again... I said they are likely only SLIGHTLY worse. TV viewership and interest in GT football was already on the decline in the CPJ years. You can't take 10 years worth of compiled data (that is very incomplete at that) and draw a conclusion that the last 3 years by the current HC is what made those numbers what they are. Like I said, it is a reach at best, and just another futile attempt to attack CGC.

Yes I am attacking Coach Collins.... That is what happens when you are supposed to be a great DB coach, who puts people in the NFL, and then come in and have the worst three year run any Defense on the Flats has had in the entire history of GT FB. If you read my first post, you would see that CPJ lost TV viewers from 2012-2018... and of course the viewership is even lower under this HC. I had three data points. The Fact is: No one has been tuning into watch Coach Collins historically bad defenses! Data don't lie, despite your love and adoration for this guy!

Dude you are a f-ing idiot. So since he hasn't put many in the NFL who are you going to blame that on since the guys he's recruited are just now going to be eligible after this season? If anything that "worst 3 year run on defense" can be attributed just as much to the roster he was left. I don't have love and adoration for this guy either. You can't see the forest through the trees. I, as well as many others, am OK with giving him one more year to turn it around and if not, I'll show him the door myself. You need to chill the hell out and just support your team and either way you should be happy. He will either turn it around or he wont and will be gone. You seem to me though like one of those that really wont be happy if he turns it around because you just want him gone and want to be right.

For the record I count the following as a historic loss under this coach:
2019 Citadel. (P5 should never lose to FCS no matter what)
2019 VT (First shutout at home since the 1950s)
2019 UGA (Worst loss in the series for GT, ever)
2020 Syracuse (17 point loss to a team that finished 1-10)
2020 Clemson (Worst ACC loss in the history of the conference)
2021 - Losses to ND & UGA by 100-0 to finish the season (I wont even talk about the ACC Losses)

The bottomline is that Geoff Collins hasn't beaten a winning team in three years. 16 losses are by double digits. And those by one possession include a loss to The Citadel(FCS), Virginia and to a Northern Illinois team that hadn't won a game since Nov. 26, 2019. However the biggest disappointment with CGC, he came in known as a defensive specialist, but his defenses have been close to abysmal (in terms of defensive FEI):

2019: 93
2020: 88
2021: 119

Below are the three areas that I believe gets us into trouble every weekend the past three years. I believe that at least the top two areas are on CGC.

Culture vs. accountability:
I'm all for having more energy in the program. Not a fan of the juice crew personally, but I applaud CGC's efforts to rebrand and appeal to more recruits, more ATL base, etc. The #1 problem with this team IMO though, is that you can still do all of the things you need to do to make this a fun place to be but still hold players accountable. I don't see the accountability. I see players making undisciplined plays, and yet, those same players keep trotting out. It may be that we are that thin across the board. But I doubt it. Stop telling the players you love them after we lose and start holding them accountable.

Gameday coaching: We make way too many mistakes, from play calling (such as the playcalling when we knew we were going for it on 4th and long), clock management (no more details needed), failure to adjust when the other team adjusts, etc.

Defensive communications: No clue what is going on here. Perhaps this is on Thacker. Perhaps not. Or perhaps this goes back to #1. But the number of times someone is running wide open downfield is unbelievable.
