Giving up another home game in 2023?

I’m still pretty annoyed that we traded a home game for a neutral site game last week, which seems contrary to the spirit and intent for which the series of games at MBS was sold to us.

If the info in this article from last year is still valid, then next year we’ll play another CFA (neutral site) game against Louisville. In the words of Lando Calrissian, “this deal is getting worse all the time.”

It looks like right now, we have 5 home games, 5 road games, and 1 neutral game on the books for 2023. Still looking for opponent #12, which could be home or away.

The MBS games were always going to be home games for us. As in, included in the price of a season ticket. The fact that the package it as a neutral field game is really out of our control. And we were the "home" team on Monday.

Last week, was a neutral game. The Benz PSLs got first picks, and Tech season ticket holders got the scraps. When we played UNC, it was an actual home game, just at the Benz. Season ticket holders got 1st pick. I'm both a Benz PSL and a Tech season ticket holder.

I guess that explains why my friend who invited me to sit with him and his wife in the "club seats" actually got club seats last year, with a free buffet and other amenities, but this year only got folding chair seats on the first row above the field. He was not a happy camper.

How elite it is ............ which "sold to us" ??
"MBS sold to GTAA" or "GTAA sold to fans/ticket holders" ?

Never seen Clemson painted in the end zone for a game at HGF/BDS like I did Monday night at Mercedes Benz.
And if they're gonna block off the upper deck, how about tarping that area? I don't know how it looked on TV but it was a bad look from our vantage point to see all those empty seats up top.

The bad look on TV as at the field level

I hope we will one day go back to wearing Tech's colors in Tech's stadium for our home games.

They apparently have curtains they can lower to block off the upper deck. Not sure why they didn’t do that for this game or the UNC game.

Unless we control ALL the tickets and get to run the production of the game like we do at BDS, it’s a neutral site game (and surely the revenue split is different). Moving home games to a different stadium is one thing; giving up a home game for a neutral site game is something different, no matter how it’s obfuscated by the GTAA.

Our incompetent AD with no business knowledge strikes again. The MBS team took us to the cleaners.

I would really like to see a financial analysis explaining why giving up ticket sales and concession revenue for a prime home game generates revenue for Georgia Tech.
Also I would think that giving away a home game would reduce ACC media revenue which would reduce the net benefit of playing in the CFA Kickoff.

I don't think y'all read what I wrote. I said "as in, included in our season ticket package."

A home game isn't a home game unless it is played at home. MBS is always a neutral site. We were the "home" team in that Clemson picked the coin toss.

And the whole seat license thing explains why there were so many empty seats at a "sold out" game.

How much were they asking for club level seats from PSL owners? The prices on Ticketmaster were outrageous so not surprising so many were left empty. 200 level club was basically empty.

I would love to see the analysis. It looks like we lose revenue every time we play at MBS and we lose even more revenue for the CFA games.
The games at MBS are great deals for our opponents who give up nothing and gain a neutral field.
