Giving up another home game in 2023?

Are we close to the point where we can charge a $M plus to take a beating from an OOC powerhouse?
We might as well. Let’s see if OSU will pay us a couple mil to go up there and let them plow us as they see fit. Beats getting treated like second class fans at one of our home games.

How much were they asking for club level seats from PSL owners? The prices on Ticketmaster were outrageous so not surprising so many were left empty. 200 level club was basically empty.
Club STH here... My seats were in the MBS club last year vs. UNC but were in section 123 this year. I asked the GTAA why we weren't given MBS club seats this year and he basically said that GT was given much fewer club seats this year because MBS PSL owners had the rights to purchase them. From there, they were assigned to STH based on priority points (he said around 700 was the cutoff).

So it's not that we (Club STH) were given the opportunity to purchase club seats, but that we were assigned club seats last year but not this year. He did say it should go back to normal next year with it not being a CFA Kickoff game.

I feel like $150, I don’t really remember. My wife got her Oregon uga tickets through the PSL. I’ll have to ask her. I just went with my season tickets for Tech since I already had those. The actual home game at the Benz is the best value for us fans. But who cares about those suckers?

According to information currently on the GT website, next year is also a CFA game, so it should be the same boondoggle for season ticket holders.

I don't think y'all read what I wrote. I said "as in, included in our season ticket package."

A home game isn't a home game unless it is played at home. MBS is always a neutral site. We were the "home" team in that Clemson picked the coin toss.

And the whole seat license thing explains why there were so many empty seats at a "sold out" game.

It’s a matter of degrees. Clemson was a neutral site game. UNC 2021 was a “home game” played in a different stadium in that we controlled all the tickets - we didn’t screw our season ticket holders (at least not as much) and didn’t give up our meager home field advantage.

Never seen Clemson painted in the end zone for a game at HGF/BDS like I did Monday night at Mercedes Benz.
The tickets may have been included in the season ticket package, but the logos on the field are normally facing the home team bench and crowd. The logos were all painted facing Clemson’s bench.

I would love to see the analysis. It looks like we lose revenue every time we play at MBS and we lose even more revenue for the CFA games.
The games at MBS are great deals for our opponents who give up nothing and gain a neutral field.
Aside from revenue (which is important) giving up your best home game to play at the Benz is horrible for your students and season ticket holder fan base. No tailgating on campus, no student blocks, less appealing season tickets package.

You aren’t going to maintain your current loyal fans, or cultivate future fans, with decisions like this.

And to make it worse, the damn dwags have only 4 away games (and don't play any of the top West Division teams).
Disgusting
This is because the SEC understands how to set up its members for success. The ACC commissioner is a complete idiot compared to the SEC commissioner.

I had such high hopes when the ACC hired a guy from the B1G. Guess I’m as dumb as the selection committee.

I’m still pretty annoyed that we traded a home game for a neutral site game last week, which seems contrary to the spirit and intent for which the series of games at MBS was sold to us.

If the info in this article from last year is still valid, then next year we’ll play another CFA (neutral site) game against Louisville. In the words of Lando Calrissian, “this deal is getting worse all the time.”

Get used to it. All home games will be at MBS once they tear down BDS.

I'm not sure what the right name is for the GTAA folks, but honest isn't one of the adjectives I'd use. It doesn't say GT STH's have priority access to premium seating after MBS PSL season ticket holders take the seats they want. Somebody's fudging the truth here. We couldn't sell out the game, now GT's alleging not all tickets were actually for sale while promoting the game as a sellout at the same time.

The fact of the matter was there were plentiful premium seats available in every single section for GT STH holders & we would have paid for the rights to sit in them. The opportunity was not provided and to make it worse GT withheld the actual seat assignments until such a late stage of the month that there was no time to sell & trade up. GT just either completely botched this or mistakenly thought GT fans would be happy with whatever they were given. It's amazing one of the smartest institutes on earth can be so dumb when it comes to things even the bastards up the road have mastered.

I don’t think this stadium would even get close to half capacity on the lower level.

Dang man, give it a rest. We had the same number of season ticket holders there. How is one a home field advantage and one is not?

First, based on the number of Clemson fans sitting in the crappy season ticket holder seats around me, I’m not sure we did have the same number of season ticket holders there - seems like some folks decided to sell their tix, either because they didn’t want to go to MBS or couldn’t go to a game on Monday night instead of Saturday.

Second, there is at least some competitive advantage to being in your own stadium where you control all the tickets and the visitors get a reduced allotment (compared to a 33/33/33% split or whatever between GT/Clem/CFA for the neutral site game). There’s some (small for us, because we kind of suck at this) advantage to being in your home stadium where you control the music and video content to hype the crowd, and where the band gets to play the entire fight song when you score instead of just one verse.

(I can’t believe I’m having to explain why there’s an advantage to playing a home game, or even a “home” game, over a neutral site game. And I’ve barely even touched on the goodwill implications of repeatedly downgrading your most loyal customers into worse seats…)
