Go for 2

CPJ said post game blocking was screwed up and the numbers for UT were such that either TQ or Benson would have walked in.

If we blocked it right...

Also, how many OT's do you want to play if you have another game in 5 days?

One more than we did, as it turns out.

(I agree with going for two. Actually thought we should have in the first OT.)

Debatable

You're a ööööing moron. 3rd OT, you have to go for 2, which is where the game was gonna go if we just went for xp. And our defense had been gassed out since 4th quarter.

I still have mixed feelings about the call for 2.

Our kicker was hitting pats at least. Next OT series you had to go for two anyway. I trust our 2 point play calls more than theirs and anything can happen on plays.

That said you can tell our defense was dead at that point and Tennessee was running through them like shit through a goose.

öööö it. Is what it is. I think we have a good starting point to build on. Time for öööö everybody else in their asses and win out.

I don't believe there was a pitch man. Benson was blocking the whole way.
There was supposed to be a pitch guy, listen to the PJ postgame. Said it should have been a walk-in, even if we miss a block the pitch should have been a race to the edge

"Should have been a walk in."

Said he saw how they lined up and we had a numbers advantage on the side the play went. Was a counter option with a pitch man available. Blockers screwed it up.....and that's that.

It was the right play call too. That play call had never not gone for at least 4 or 5 yards all game.
Who missed the ööööing block is what I want to know. Chip that guy just a tad and Marshall moonwalks into the endzone.

And if we had kicked it, having already watched our kicker miss and get blocked, everyone would be eviscerating CPJ for putting the game back in his hands. It was the right decision, it was the right play call, it didn't work out. That happens sometimes. But people need something to blame, someone has to be at fault.

I haven't gone back and watched that play, but on at least two occasions earlier in the game I saw our right tackle seem to forget to cut his man and it cost us.

Did anyone watching from home see a replay? They didn't show it in the stadium. Did Benson catch it or did the nose hit the ground?

The official who called it incomplete was behind Benson so it seemed a little odd the he called it. Not sure Benson got in anyway but just curious

Sadly, going for two was the right call. I say sadly, because if you had confidence in your kicker the right call is to tie the game on move on to the next period. I thought there was confusion on the play call. CPJ talked with Stewart before the play. Stewart came in motion and Marshall waved him off. I think we tried to add Stewart as a blocker only to have it confuse the QB. That was no time for new wrinkles. Stick to what had been working. But, Coach is seldom gonna say he may have messed up a call. He will blame the blocking.

What exactly happened in the play. Tauquan was definitely not down. Did the pass bounce, thus incomplete, or was it caught or a lateral. If the latter, we scored. May have been a good call, I just don't know.

Benson definitely didn't get in, but just from the couple of replays I saw it definitely hit the ground. The funny thing is, it barely touched the turf and the ref called it incomplete immediately, whereas earlier in the game a Tennessee receiver just picked up an incomplete pass and the refs tried to give it to him. And would have, if Tennessee had gotten the snap off quicker.

Ran into @Bobbenson and the shots of Crown had me faded. If I could only find my wife erred

Right call. We were going with the thing that had worked literally all game long with a waning defense and not putting the game in the hands of the kicker, which had already had the opportunity a couple times. The kicking will get better, the fumbles will probably go down. I'm excited for where we are heading. The loss suuuuuuucks, but we can still have a very special season. A lot of teams on our schedule just got a major puckering sensation.

They just didn't execute it. The look was there. The decision to go for 2 was correct. Did not make the blocks that had to be made. I bet we convert there 80% of the time in that exact situation based on what I had seen all night.

Move on. Bring on Jax St. All of our team goals remain ahead of us.
