GT football recruiting so far this year...

Well, personally I don't care how we do in some mythic ranking against ugag. What I care about is whether we have the talent to compete with them, and clearly we do given how close the last 3 games have been. What I want out of recruiting is for our coaches to get the kids they want (or a high enough percentage of our top picks) and that we don't have to reach for many prospects.

I couldn't agree more, but we always lose to Ugag even when we think we're more talented. So, if you think close losses are ok or that we're now "competing" with them, why are we still LOSING to them every year??? Must be coaching then, but that is for a whole other thread.

When have we ever been more talented?

While our starters in past years have been as talented as UGA's, once you get to the 2 deep it has always dropped off rapidly.

And since you throw in your requisite swipe at Gailey, I need to state the obvious: only ONCE has Gailey has a recruiting class ranked anywhere near UGA's classes (and they are just now coming onto campus), yet we have been in a position to win the game in each of the last 3 years. That's hardly an indictment of the coaching.

There are no moral victories against UGAy. You either beat them or you don't. This coach hasn't, but for some odd reason that has been deemed acceptable.

Who's talking about moral victories? I was pointing out the conflict in gt's statement.

Losing is an indictment of the coaching. Being in a position to win means nothing.

If you're evaluating a coach's effectiveness, you have to go more than by wins and losses.

Oh, yes, I forget. Gailey is responsible for every GT loss and Tenuta is responsible for every GT win.

Jon Tenuta has never had a losing season at GT.

Can there be 1 decent football discussion on this board that doesn't get reduced to the old, recycled Gailey argument? Barbaro is rolling in his grave.

Actually Gailey is responsible for every loss and every win. The buck stops there. When your job is to win the outcome of the game is the only measure of your effectiveness.

As far as coaching against the Mutts, Gailey has proven himself to be wholly ineffective.

And according to Rivals, you didn't.
You didn't!! PLEASE DONT TELL ME YOU ARE ANOTHER BULLDAWG FAN!

Once a record has a skip in it you can rarely fix it...you just have to throw it away. KnoxJacket and GeeTee are broken records.

I simply put a recruiting update from my humble perspective...the good and the bad...and they turn the discussion to a completely different direction. Absolutely nuts.

Of course...I cannot see GeeTee's posts which is kind of nice...but I am sure they are negative because he is incapable of change.

I liken GeeTee's posts to 20oz's. They're both trolls only one is a GT fan disguised as a UGA fan and the other is a UGA fan disguised as a GT fan.

Knox however is a genuine fan who is simply fed up. There are more and mroe of those these days. I'm too thick-skinned (can be read as stubborn) to give in or give up. I'll keep my gold-colored glasses thank you.

Not the point! Geetee said that we have never outrecruited UGAy and I called him out on that lie by saying that Scout had us higher than UGAy for 2007.

Another freaking thread channed by geetee. It was so nice while he was away.

In the AJC tonight they are quoting one of our fans, Eric Smith, who says:

What's the point of me paying $300 extra for my two seats when you'll have people on the streets selling tickets for $20 in a quarter-, half- empty stadium?"

What will it take to fill our stadium as no doubt we pale in comparison to the stronger football programs around the country. Some people say we should cater to the non-grad Tech fans in Atlanta, while others make fun of other schools that have some degree of a non-grad fan base. Yes, our fan base is smaller, but our stadium is, too. In a major market like Atlanta we should be able to fill it up.
Aren't we as a lackluster fan base partially responsible for our inconsisitent recruiting?

I do not know what stadium he is looking at because our attendance was over 90% last year.

I didn't know the exact %, however, I knew he was way off.

To add to the point, DRad was on 790 this morning and said that GTAA is projecting a small operating profit for the fiscal year (July-June). I'm sure there are more folks like the guy quoted in the article (bitter about DRad "moving their cheese") but the TECH FUND seems to be working.

no, you, too, missed the point... do you not find it funny that the original post in this thread was saying that Ugag's early success in recruiting (ajc says they just rec'd yet another stud DE yesterday) is simply because they're copying our recruiting strategy now??? ours??? They have 13 to our 3...and, they're copying our strategy??? Shouldn't that be even, then? Like, they've never had recruiting success and we're the gold standard? Now, if they didn't consistently out-recruit us and win on the field every year, perhaps, then, the comment may have merit.

They have received several verbals from people we were also recruiting which stinks.

Then again, neither has Gailey.

He's unfortunately faced Richt while GOL had Goff and Donnan. The UGA-GT battle doesn't just depend on what GT does.
