GT Getting Some Recognition

Most long time fans know better. In '07, I remember thinking we had arrived after we pummeled Notre Dame in the season opener. I started bragging to all my friends that we were the class of the ACC. Then a week later, we got Matt Ryan'ed by BC.

Never again.
Wasn't a PI against Guyton

The last time that happened to me was in 2007 after GT crushed ND in South Bend in the season opener. I happened to be in Tuscaloosa for Saban's first game with my Bama grad ex-wife. I had a Tech hat on, and the Bama fans were going nuts and high-fiving me all over town. On a golf course in Birmingham the next day an older Bama fan sang "Ramblin Wreck" from the fairway when I was on the green.
Rumor is Saban flew to Ireland on the GT team charter. Later sent a check to Tech.

Heh, that game is burned into my brain as the “Not-So-Fast” game. But I remember thinking after the game that ND was terrible rather than GT had arrived. The biggest clue for me was we were running a pretty basic offense with lots of direct snaps to the HB and they couldn’t stop it even after seeing it repeatedly, and it’s not like it’s a terribly complex scheme.

I’m just enjoying us playing good solid football. I’m not worried about the polls, standings, or any of that stuff on Sept.2. I’m just proud we are a competent football team who can stand toe to toe right now.
I feel just like you do. If we can keep winning, the ratings will not matter.

The 07 Notre Dame game was our first without Reggie in five years and we all wanted to believe that Taylor Bennett's performance in the Gator Bowl was an indicator of things to come. Unfair to Taylor and, in a lot of ways, to Reggie. Still, we öööö the bed in most of the big games and getting trounced by Fresno in Boise wasn't what we imagined as #22 left dust and bodies all over South Bend.

öööö Notre Dame btw

I am currently in MN for business, and went to a local bakery this morning to grab a ton of breakfast for some employees. The manager saw my GT pullover and was asking if I saw that awesome game in Ireland with ESPN Gameday there, etc… we talked for a bit about being there as he packed up my order.

Even though FSU is obviously total ass, the brand value we got out of that win is real. Just keep winning.
