GT Picked A Bad Time To Start Losing And …

it's bad timing now for realignment with our program at such a low point.
I hope we're lucky and get an invite from SEC.
having the only P5 coach who needs a slogan to remind himself that "winning is important now" is truly embarrassing.

You remember that time the SEC's basketball tournament got ööööed up and öööö and we allowed them to run their tournament from our stadium? Those MFers owe us, BIG TIME.

I remember and I was livid that not only GT’s leadership but also the ACC’s leadership rolled out the red carpet. Meanwhile, the UGA controlled BOR does nothing for GT while giving UGA engineering.

And we all saw how the SEC stood up for NC State in the baseball Final Four last year. The ACC is a joke.

I would rather GT drop football than join the B10. This whole restructure chaos is just going to create Div 1A/B/C. We'll be fine as a strong 1B once we lose delusions of grandeur that we're still GT of the 1950s.

Eleven of the eighteen members of the BOR are not UGA(g) alums, including the chairman, who is a GT grad.
The BOR has forever given GT grief about adding majors which would make it easier to recruit and retain football players. And they have done that to give UGA an even bigger edge in football. And to add insult to injury they allowed UGA to build a school of engineering. The BOR is no friend of Georgia Tech.

Guys, in every scenario like this one that we find our way in, we always get screwed. I can't believe people can see this any other way. No chance we get an offer from the SEC at all, that's laughable. And the BIG10, we missed that train. iiwii
Agreed

I think that a log of this reconference drama is being driven by the odd share and share alike relationships for tv revenue and I think that very soon the big dawgs are gonna want bigger pieces of the pie and want the new contracts focused on hard viewer data. And now the tv networks are going to want that too cause they overspent last time around.

We'll just make our own conference. Call Tulane, Vanderbilt, and UAB, see if they've got plans this summer.

There is no state BOR across the country out to prevent any school from adding degrees. The argument is complete and utter BS. Some of you truly will find any and every excuse for the shortcomings of the school itself from an athletics standpoint. The fact that UGA added an Engineering degree did not boost them in any way shape or form over GT. I mean if this was the case, UCF would be dominating every school in Florida with their student base and degree options. Do you really think UF, FSU, Miami care? No.

UGA is the state of Georgia school. Always has been, always will be. GT is like Auburn as it relates to this conversation. Has and will always be overshadowed by the bigger state school aka Alabama. GT will have ebbs & flows of success, but UGA in the new world of CFB will likely always be a Top 20 program going forward. The money, facilities, conference and NFL Draft picks are on their side.

As pointed out above, the numbers on the side of GT from the state BOR completely blow the lack of degrees excuse out of the water. Show proof of the last time GT tried to expand the degrees offered without Calc being required?

People have been saying the BOR thing since at least the end of the 90s. I don't know how much validity there is to it, but you must see that the numbers you mentioned for Georgia make it more likely that they are favored more than we are and likely that they get preferential treatment. Maybe some of these fruit loops are Tech grads, but I doubt they're allergic to money.

Do a history check and see how the BOR (or earlier versions of the same) have denied Tech's request for additional majors. Hell, they even took one away from Tech in the 30s (School of Commerce). That ultimately led to the formation of Ga State.

How about NIU and The Citadel as well?

Earlier versions of the BOR? How does that even matter in a conversation about present day? If GT tried to expand degree options now, if denied could easily be contested and won in court. Fact remains, the evolving conference expansion is going to truly tell if GT is In or out. One step towards showing the B1G they are in, would be preparing expanded degree options that are more suited towards athletics.

Education degrees are a large missing piece from Tech. Many players want to become coaches. At Tech you can become a teacher but only after going to Ga State or another university.

I can't off the cuff give you any examples of recent denials of extra majors at Tech, but it is well know, that AGAINST THE OBJECTIONS OF TECH. the BOR added a new engineering program in Athens within the last 10 years. As far as "earlier versions of the BOR", those duties used to be met directly by the Georgia legislature, and they have never been Tech-friendly. You are either lacking in knowledge or very naive.

You are apparently lacking in knowledge too, but at least he's asking/looking for it. You are admitting you can't provide the information, while insulting him for not having it.

I have given two examples of the state (either the BOR or the legislature) doing what he says has not been done. Can you not read? I'll give you yet another example, although not current. On several occasions as recently as the 60s, the state refused to allow Tech to minimize or delete the calculus requirement in certain majors, like Industrial Management.
