GT v. FSU in Ireland 2024

Might as well post this here. After listening to the on-demand rerun of SiriusXM “Full Ride” today and going to the 2 segments with GT ties (Wes Durham, Tom Luginbill) surprisingly the opinion on Saturday is not what you think.

Durham feels that FSU wins “comfortably” by slowing the game down and running the ball. Pointed out how bad GT was against the rush last year. So more or less GT will have to prove they can stop FSU’s running game. He feels they will not make DJ U throw the ball much down field. Durham does have a lot of positives to say about the O, including throwing out Leo Blackburn finally being healthy. But he doesn’t think the GT D can do enough to give them a shot to win in the end.

And now the flip side.

Luginbill thinks this is a tight game late in the 4th quarter IF one stat holds…..

If King doesn’t have 1-2 INT’s in the stat column, GT with all the returning experience and overall skill on offense can win this game. Luginbill praised the talent level on GT’s O combined with Faulkner’s play calling.
Gotta stop the run, limit turnovers, and put up points to win. Got it. Delete in 1 hour.

I agree with Tom. Our talent on O should stack up to most in D1 and should be our best since CPJ’s best teams. I expect our D to take some chances and get burned but also make just enough plays to let our O keep us in the game. Maybe we get lucky in the end, maybe we just keep it close - but it’s Week 1, anything can happen.

10/11 of their starting O are seniors? At least 5/10 of those seniors have never played for FSU. I can see some advantages here. The more missed assignments, the more opportunity for turnovers!
This is what ChatGPT says about the transfers on O.
For Florida State’s 2024 starting offense against Georgia Tech, the lineup includes several key transfers. The starting quarterback, DJ Uiagalelei, transferred from Oregon State. Additionally, the wide receivers Malik Benson (from Alabama) and Jalen Brown (from LSU) are also transfers. On the offensive line, Richie Leonard IV (from Florida) and Keiondre Jones (from Auburn) are starting as transfers. These players make up the significant portion of the transfer talent among the 10 seniors starting on offense.
