Our business school is very selective and football players (just like most other people who apply) normally don't get admitted.
 
I was only happy the times I forced myself to be happy.

I would have been way happier somewhere else.

GT was like boot camp.

Most of them don't get into the GT grad program and must go elsewhere. Some of them choose to continue to play football and some of them don't.
 
Tech was a miserable time. Aside from my group of friends and Tech football and ball games, the days in between weren't fun. The time between graduating Tech and starting med school was a fun time for me. Hell, med school was fun and way easier than engineering at Tech, by a large margin.
 
You know, you guys make tech seem like something it isn't. The first semester was a real pain in the ass, but after that I figured out how to get the right professors and it was frankly pretty easy most of the time even if the material was pretty hard. There was never anything keeping me from going to KSU or UGA for a weekend if nothing was going on on campus and we always had plenty of friends coming in from other campuses for our parties. Was it the best four years of my life? I've probably had four individual years better, but no four years in a row were nearly as much fun.
 
Tech is work. Lots and lots of work. If you're the type that likes work, you'll like Tech. If you like to work sometimes and like to have fun sometimes, you'll like Tech sometimes and not like Tech a whole lot more often.

If you hate work, you're gonna have a bad time.

This was the key. If you didn't figure out that the prof mattered for your learning style, then you just schedule a class and paid the price.

Also, many didn't have access or desire to be at KSU/UGA/AUC type parties.
 
I guess I'm in the minority here. GT was not the right school for me personally but I figured out how to bullshit my way through it, get the right professors, attend 50-60% of my classes, and still get a degree. I loved Atlanta. I partied my balls off.

Maybe, I don't know. I didn't say "never" -- just that I remember several instances of grad transfers from Tech because they didn't get into the business school.

Once I figured out to not take more than ~13 hours a semester (and how to effectively study), I started having a lot more fun. Well rather, I was still having fun, but my grades weren't paying for it anymore so i was generally less stressed. My final/fifth year was one of the most fun periods of my life.
 
I am concerned about the number of transfers. I want kids to enjoy playing - it is hard to recruit if a team does not seem to get along and players are not positive ambassadors for the program. I know the percentage of transfers out is still small, but I would think it would be better for the program if we had fewer transfers.
 
Better transfers in good standing than flunkouts that impact our scholarships available.

13 hours in a semester? LOL. When I was in there were 20, 19, 18 hour quarters that were required if you wanted to finish in 4 years (no summers).

That's also 10 semesters to graduate (undergrad) as opposed to 8 if you were doing closer to 16, which is probably an additional 15-20k in expenses if you are in state and an addditional 35-40k if you are out of state.
