I haven’t seen twisting of his words, but I’m also not on CNN and Fox’s websites jerking off to a biased one sided echo chamber. Just on this board, there have been comments about what his words MEAN as well. Both sides are equally as guilty at spinning everything to fit their narratives. Get over yourselves. You are bringing in outside knowledge and bias to infer what Butker meant.
All that ANYONE needs to do is to watch the entire unedited video of his address and quit listening to what opinion "journalists: are claiming that he said. There is no need to spin anything if you actually listen to what he said.
The number one thing that everybody ignores is that Jesus was a Jew Himself. The Jews in His day did not kill him, but they did demand that He be killed. But even if the Jews had killed him, why would it be considered anti-semitic to say that Jews killed a Jew? I am definitely 100% against anti-semitism, but saying Jews killed a fellow Jew is definitely not anti-semitic, even though it has obviously been used that way against ALL Jews throughout history, including within the Church that should know better.
Most Protestant churches teach the Old Testament and do not teach that The Jews are responsible for the death of Jesus. Most anti-Semitic people in the United States are simply hate filled people with no religion.
You’re not necessarily wrong about Butker’s views but it doesn’t require your petty jab. He is also not schismatic. I’m a Novus Ordo Catholic myself and don’t appreciate a lot of the sanctimonious preaching done by my friends and family who happen to have started leaning into the more traditional practices and the Latin Mass. there is nothing inherently schismatic about it though. There are definitely schismatic temptations in that arena, but pretty much all of it is backed up by the Catechism. Including the bit about not abusing NFP. Humanae Vitae is pretty clear that there must be a justifiable reason (and I might add my family is utilizing that allowance)
It’s also possible his joke was intended for his audience who knows what NFP is and knows what mainstream birth control is (which many many Catholics use) as a promo to use NFP
