The new bill just passed through the house does exactly what Butker is decrying. It essentially leaves the door open for anyone repeating what the Bible says about the Jews killing Jesus to be guilty of anti-semitism. No, the Jews did not kill Jesus, but they demanded that Pilate kill him, so his blood was on their hands. All you have to do is read about the stoning of Stephen, where he accused the Jewish LEADERS OF THE DAY of killing Jesus. Paul later repeatedly declares that Jesus' death was not due to any one person or group of people; it was due to the sin present in EVERYONE'S life, and God the Father's WILL that Jesus should die as a sacrifice for those sins. You are incredibly naive if you don't think that there are people who would try to use Stephen's words while omitting Paul's clarification (1) to justifyr anti-semitism, or (2) to justify saying that ALL Christians who quote God's Word are anti-semites. The first has already happened numerous times through history, sadly even within the Church. The second can easily happen now as a result of the poorly worded bill, and THAT is what Butker was talking about.I will call out Butker for something anti-Semitic that he said. He criticized the newly passed bill defining anti-Semitic language and said you could go to jail for calling out those who killed Jesus. It just doesn't get more anti-Semitic than that, much less the fact that the Vatican declared in the 1960's that Jews did not kill Jesus. This is the origin of anti-semitism and while Butker may be a true practicing Catholic, this is bigoted and as anti-Semitic as it gets. Shame on him!
This is his speech:It was in his commencement speech. Today's AJC had an article in the sports section quoting much of his speech and there it was. You really can't miss it if you read everything.
You don't seem to know what he actually said in his speech.I think everyone knows exactly what Butker was saying whether you want to admit it or not. Not going to debate it with you.
Seeing and hearing it on a video beats any article anybody writes, no matter what the issue, and the video of Butker's speech is easy to find onlineIt was in his commencement speech. Not in his commencement speech? Where is this from. EXECTLY?OK - here is EXECTLY what he said: "Congress just passed a bill where stating something as basic as the biblical teaching of who killed Jesus could land you in jail." I don't think the anti-semitism bill just passed was about Romans or Pontius Pilate. It was about the accepted definition of anti-semitism and hatred of Jews. Connect the dots however you want to excuse Butker.
He was saying the country is being over-run by a bunch of imbeciles. He’s got a point when a lot of people think their jobs are way more important than their families, but we can only guess how their children turned out. Odds are not good.I think everyone knows exactly what Butker was saying whether you want to admit it or not. Not going to debate it with you.
And he certainly never said that women belonged ONLY in the kitchen. He extolled the equal value of both men and women in the home, mutually supportive of the family unit, as well as in their jobs, IF they choose to have a job outside the home.He was saying the country is being over-run by a bunch of imbeciles. But you have large numbers of people telling everyone that their job is way more important than their wife or kids. It's no wonder we have throngs of maladjusted children wreaking havoc all over the place when their parents care more about their possible promotion to head cashier than whether or not their kids have a good home environment so they can thrive. And he certainly never said that women belonged ONLY in the kitchen. One time Butker was with Laskey in Athens, along with a live bulldog. Butker goes up to the uga mascot and says, 'He's Zack Laskey! SAY IT!' Then Butker manipulates the dawg's lips in such a way as to make it say, 'Zach Laskey' ... It wasn't exactly like it, but it was pretty good for a dawg. It's amazing the öööö people are willing to make up that he clearly didn't say, reference, hint at, etc. it's unreal.
The Jews did kill Jesus. They demanded his execution, sought to discredit claims of his resurrection and persecuted and killed his followers. The law also states that claiming the Jews killed Jesus fits the definition of antisemitism. Butker exaggerated the punishment I suppose.OK - here is EXECTLY what he said: "Congress just passed a bill where stating something as basic as the biblical teaching of who killed Jesus could land you in jail." In this thread I learned that snowflakes have pussies. To be clear, you’re alll snowflake pussies.

This is the basis of the soon to be federally enshrined definition of anti-semitism
What is antisemitism?
With the IHRA working definition of antisemitism, the IHRA built international consensus around an answer to the question, what does antisemitism mean?holocaustremembrance.com
Jesus died for all our sins it is true. But the Bible makes it pretty clear who was demanding He be crucified. After all He was claiming to be the Jewish Messiah. That’s a pretty big deal for Jews.
Jews in the leadership positions at the time demanded Jesus’s death. Is that safe enough to say? I mean seriously. I don’t mean to imply that all Jews are responsible for and murdered Jesus, but it is historically and biblically accurate to say the leadership of Jews and a few others at the time of Jesus caused His death. The Jews did not kill Jesus. There is no reading/interpretation of the biblical text that leads you to that. Roman Catholics pushed that narrative for centuries probably because they didn't want to admit that Romans (which they were) crucified Christ. You can argue that the Jews demanded it; but the Romans (who weren't exactly fond of Jesus either) performed the execution and it is no shocker that Roman Catholics would want to take Romans out of the scene. (I don't think modern Roman Catholics still push the 'Jews killed Christ' narrative; but maybe the ultra conservative ones do.)
Note that the IHRA definition of antisemitisim does not contain the word Jesus in it anywhere:
“Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”
The real reason to be against this bill (which is still a long way from becoming a law) is because it is intended to be more 'hate speech' legislation, all of which should be burned in a dumpster.
