Has TFG found a home?

May I ask a question, please?

Who the heck cares? TFG completely scammed GA Tech for 3.5 years and then ran off with 11M of our hard-earned clams. I hope the next thought I think about him is the last one I have to.

Yeah, can't imagine caring enough to actually post in a thread about it. Who would even do that?

I guess the thing is we don't really have to guess. He's been an assistant for 20+ years. His defenses at Mississippi State and Florida were very good statistically. Even if you want to say they were good in spite of him, it's clear that he wasn't killing programs as an assistant.

It's all speculation, and I am certainly 100% speculating, but I do stand by my "he is a poor leader and should never lead anyone" assessment, he put those traits out there for all to see and it's obvious to me that he is pathetically bad at that.

As for his coaching ability, if I speak only from my personal experience I will have to limit it to the one game where I saw his defense. Which, interestingly was when he was completely roasted by us in the 2014 Orange Bowl.

No team should let him run their program--I think we can all agree on that. I get that people are sour on him for how catastrophic his tenure at Tech was, but I'm not sure what people are trying to prove with this retroactive narrative of a coach too toxic to work as an assistant anywhere when that's basically what he's done for the majority of his career.

I doubt (and hope) that Collins isn't really that much of a factor other than it's nothing more than a fun way to pass the time. Someone's gotta by the butt of it, why not him.

Hard for him to be roasted when he had already left for Florida before the game.

Didn't realize that. I guess he's back to being awesome again.
Not awesome, just not terrible in positions other than head coach. I kind of wish he was, though, because maybe we don't waste the past four years if his resume was actually that bad.
I’m pretty sure both of you are right in some context. That being said I can not imagine anyone else embarrassing me for being a fan or the institute as a whole at a higher and more elite level than he did.

I look forward to getting them to jump offsides for 100 combined yards in a bowl game while hanging 70 on them.

I went and browsed a forum of theirs out of morbid curiosity. From what I can tell, they’re all convinced that Tech is a dead end job and Geoff did about as well as he could here. His real experience is of course his SEC experience.
Lol. Well that’s Arkansas for you. I guess it’s normal that a HC cannot even figure out which kicker is more likely to make field goals and lacks a basic understanding of the rules of CFB.

Arkansas is a 3rd or 4th rate SEC school so it’s not surprising they’re considering hiring a bottom feeder like the clown. Coordinators only last 1-2 years so another couple years of Arkansas sucking balls is hardly going to be noticed by anyone. They’re Vandy without the education part. Clown will öööö them up, they’ll suck for 2 years under him,
hit rock bottom by losing to to some 1AA team and take another 3 to exorcise the rot he imbeds in the program. Good luck Arkansas.

Probably comes down to the length of leash he is given. I think it simply boils down to the fact that he is not a good leader and should never lead men in any capacity. There is plenty of evidence of this from on the field to how he handled himself in press conferences. Perhaps you can get by with that to some extent as an assistant but that would depend largely upon who the boss is and how that program is constructed, i.e. a "worker bee coach" with great oversight and/or micro managing might be serviceable but I contend that left to his own devices at whatever level would always trend towards failure.
Maybe as an assistant, he's good with the players, but he can still lose the fans. I had a conversation with a UF-grad customer while playing golf a little after the Clown was hired. I asked him what he thought of the hire. His first response was, "Is he still doing that stupid 'Money Down' thing?' I said yes and he changed the music the band could play. He told me the same thing happened at UF and all the fans were still pissed about it.

How many “rates” of Sec schools are there on your scale? Assuming Vandy Is below Arkansas so they would be a 5th or 6th rate sec school?

How did he get money down privileges as the DC? And why do schools allow it to occur? It’s the dumbest crap I’ve ever seen. WTF.

Since you hear players sometimes talk about being soldiers on the field, warriors, etc (which is absurd, but I digress), imagine taking this approach with actual soldiers. A Lieutenant Commander comes in and the Admiral allows him to institute a new policy, blasting Money Down!!!! before the Navy Seals bust in and destroy you. If they take out an enemy combatant they get to run to the side and live stream their hash tag board from the remote regions of Pakistan. The possibilities are endless.
