HD Top 30 ACC Players Countdown

All I am saying is this: HD will probably have Spiller on her list. Despite his hype, the fact that he is less critical to his team, and any other argument as to why Nesbitt or someone else should be there instead (which I do not necessarily disagree with), HD will probably pick him because NFL scouts think he is a 1st/2nd rounder. NFL scouts think Dwyer, Burnett and D. Morgan are NFL-caliber, and I think that is why HD has them in her top 10. It is not a slap in the face to anybody not on the list, it is merely an explanation of why certain people make the list.

All I'm saying is that I don't care what HD has to say. It is meaningless. But, since it evidently makes for good offseason talk, I cannot believe JN is not on the list.

You're right, the sprain occurred when Gardner rolled over on him in the FSU game. He sprained the other one the next week in the UNC game.

So chalk up a hammy, and two sprained ankles! That's what I mean, he was a warrior last year.

Also, against Clemson was his first game back from the hammy he suffered against MSU.

All you guys that have been giving Heather a hard time...claiming that she does not respect GT or know crap about football...need to give the proper kudo's here to place 3 GT players in the Top 10! It has been awhile since we had 3 of the Top 10 in anyones list!

In her ACC mailblog this morning, she picked Miami to beat GT. If her sole purpose in putting VT in the ACC Championship is VT's past, then this proves she:

(a) is inconsistent;
(b) doesn't respect GT, and;
(c) doesn't know crap about football.

I'm not saying we'll beat Miami (we should), but to pick Miami over us is ridiculous.

Spiller is #1. HD gives us the clue in her comments. Which is INSANE!

Why he's not No. 1: Not yet, anyway. First, let's see Dwyer sustain his success now that defensive coordinators have had an off-season to really key in on him and Georgia Tech's offensive scheme. Dwyer is a more complete pure runner than No. 1, but he's not as versatile.
bolded italics are my emphasis.

So Spiller is #1 -- although I usually defend HD, right now I think she has absolutely no clue about football.

I was about to respond with something to the effect of "at least she reports about GT," and then I see this crap:

She has lost a little credit with me, putting Spiller at No. 1. As much as I think Spiller should be in the top 30, these two guys are in different worlds. JD is in the world of being the best player in the ACC, and Spiller is in the world of inconsistently showing NFL talent.

EDIT--again, sorry I did not see BuzzMD's post

And now she's placed Dwyer #2?!?!!?!?!

The concensus in the comments for a long time has been that Dwyer is #1. If she puts TT #1 I will swear off the ESPN ACC blog forever!

Add this to my list of reasons why HD doesn't respect GT and doesn't know crap about football.

Quick. Somebody who pays more attention to HD than I do, send her a bottle / box / whatever of whatever it is she likes best. This is the BEST possible thing she could have done for us. Whether spiller or taylor, somebody just drew a PHAT bullseye on their arse for one of our more important games this season.

Forget whether you think JD SHOULD be at #1, I think everyone on this board at least would agree that's the case. This is good for us. Under the radar and fighting up is our best shot at a good season. THANK YOU HD.

spiller, dead, taylor, dead, NEIDERMEYER!!!!

Look at these early 2010 NFL mock drafts...keep in mind that I agree with most of what everyone is saying on our StingTalk board...but we are all biased. Below shows more of the national opinion...some have Dwyer higher...some have Spiller...one idiot has Caleb King!

#15 and #21 on this one:

Hate to say I told you so... but....

How many times has spiller won ACC POY?

Oh yeah I forgot me and him are tied with 0.

CJ Spiller's yard total for 2007 and 2008: 1397
Dwyer's yard total for 2008 alone: 1395

And don't "its the system" crap me because he wasn't the only ACC back to break a 1000 yards that year. I know perfectly well why she's picking it that way and it falls under the same reason the Raiders picked that Maryland wide receiver over Crabtree.

People seem to think that if you can show great athletics at a combine or summer camp then you're a great football player.

Hate to say I told you so... but....

Wait, don't tell me you said Spiller was going to be #1, cause that's just looking into a third eye crazy. Not even die hard Clemson fans would of seen this coming.

If you mean the part about HD not knowing about football then nevermind

I know that you complimented Josh in your post, but I still take issue with the "Josh underperformed last season" line.

My "underperformed" comment was a response to someone asking why Josh wasn't in the Top 30 list. I think we all know Josh belongs there. But, HD's top 30 list seems to put more weight on what players have done in the past and not what players have done under the circumstances.

In comparison to what he would be normally capable of, he did under perform last season but this is without giving consideration to the circumstances he was in. This is not to say that he didn't put in the work and effort to do well. I gave him the unsung hero title for a good reason.

I'd pick Taylor instead of Spiller. Spiller is speed, but he's not gotten it done in 3 years. Why put him in the top 4 athletes in the whole conference? At least Taylor led his team to the ACC championship last year.

I think he was providing us with a little self-deprecating sarcasm, which I enjoy.

You eventually figured it out. WTG.

I think you some of you guys are putting a little too much emphasis on this list which literally means nothing to anyone other than those that want to make something of it. HD is a columnist - her top priority is to attract fans to her blog and most importantly to ESPN.com to help with advertising revenue. You can't do that without stoking the fire a bit and creating controversy between fans.

Jon Dwyer is the ACC Player of the Year. What else needs to be said?
