Here's a thought

We have a tough schedule and will be favored in three or four games. I think you better analyze segments of the game, improvement in coaching and execution, etc instead of measuring wins only.

If we make any improvement, I would hope we diminish his role even more. That shows that the assistant coaches saved the day. Keep him so we save the restitution money, but give Long the powers of head coach, just without the title. Even give him a raise.

Our expectations are so low. I remember people wanting to get rid of Chan for winning 7 games per year. Now we’re asking if we’d give a 3 win per year coach another season if he won 5.

Depressing. And what’s worse is that we could have dominated the Coastal. We really have missed a great opportunity.

In what world outside of Vandy is 5 wins okay, sure as hell is not for me

People wanted to fire the previous HC for going 6-7 in 2010 despite going 11-3 and 9-4 in the previous two years. Now 5 wins "if we look good losing" after three 3 win seasons has become acceptable. Bunch of asshattery

who is saying 5 wins is acceptable? I posted what I think could happen, not what I want to happen. Maybe I misunderstood the point of the thread, though.

Let's say collins goes 5-7 and they look good in games would you keep him or toss him out??

5-7 is technically an improvement, but not enough. Let's be honest, those seven losses aren't going to be one-score losses to the best teams on our schedule. They will be a mix of blowouts (the good teams) and close losses (mediocre teams).

Now, 7-5 is worth talking about...

5 wins would be tricky.

A loss to WCU would be horrific. So that is one of the wins.

3 out of 7 in the coastal would be bad. You either lose to a bad team or you show you can’t compete in year 4 in a bad division. So you are probably looking at 4 wins in the coastal.

But that means you lose to Ole Miss and UCF. They would have to both look good. And they can’t look good with a close win against a 5-7 team.

Preventing uga from playing ‘name the score’ would be nice, but unlikely for a 5 win team.

So it would be hard to go 5-7 but still look good enough to undo the damage done the past three years.

This could be the most ridiculous post you’ve made yet - and that’s saying something. If the team improves, it’s because Collins made the right moves in the off-season, and his overall methods are working. You don’t touch anything at that point. Instead, you let him keep making the moves necessary to keep improving.

I wonder how long it'd would take if No One renewed their Season Tickets. It's not college football anymore .... it's a business and if the fans treated it as such the scenario may be different. Hell, they're not even Student Athletes based on what I'm hearing. Most "Recruits" are now businessmen looking for the best NIL like it's SharkTank.
This is the year, I have heard the season tickets are down a lot. They (GTAA & AD) understand that they have to win and COVID can't be an excuse anymore. Not sure if you noticed, but with the Transfer portal being what it is...(31 total recruits on team since CGC arrived) there is not much excuse for switching from 3O anymore....(four recruiting classes and 31 Transfer portal recruits, time to coach your scheme up) There is no excuse for Geoff Collins being a Defensive "guru" Coach to ever finish 117 in the FBS. Its time to coach the boys up or find a new HC/and possibly a new AD after this season!

FWIW, Transfer portal players brought in since Geoff Collins took over:
2019
Myles Sims
Antonneous Clayton
Marquez Ezzard
Jared Southers
Tyler Davis

2020
Devin Cochran
Ryan Johnson
Derrik Allen

2021
Trad Beatty
Kenneth Kirby
Brent Cimaglia
Ayinde Eley
Kyric McGowan
Makius Scott
Kevin Harris
Nick Pendley
Keion White

2022
Kenny Bennett
RJ Adams
EJ Jenkins
Corey Robinson II
Dylan McDuffie
Eric Reed
KJ Wallace
Khari Gee
Ahmari Harvey
Taisun Phommachanh
Luke Benson
Zach Gibson
Hassan Hall
Paul Tchio

I think maybe two of those guys have had a significant impact.

Don't kid yourself, if we have another losing season there will be people on here blaming CPJ and the TO. They will do it forever. I can hear it now when CGC's contract runs out "he just couldn't overcome the mess CPJ left".

It wouldn’t be bc of Collins, if it was Collins, we would’ve seen improvement the first 3 years
