How do we get more Tech fans to the games?

I'm not a tech alum, my husband isn't either but we both grew up in homes where our parents (and their parents before them) were GT fans. We live almost an hour and a half away (Rome) and he works swing shifts but we still manage at least 4 home football games, 1 away football game, quite a few baseball games and at usually 2 basketball games each year. I can't stand to hear people talk about how tough it is to make a Thursday night game. It is one or two times a year when you will get home later and then be tired the next day. It is well worth it to me to go and cheer on the team that I love with some of my favorite people in the world.

I love GT when they win, I love GT when they lose. We support GT athletics in every way that we can. I proudly wear white, old gold or navy every chance I get and I refuse to wear anything red. Our 12 year old daughter loves GT to the point of almost being obnoxious. The ads at the games don't bother me because as long as I'm in BDS, I'm happy.

Amen sister!

p.s. I love Thursday night games, I feel proud going to work with a tired hangover and no voice.

Talk about a hot thread.

The MNC talk is interesting but irrelevant. Saying win a MNC as the way to get more fans is correct but obnoxious. It's like the old Steve Martin gag "You.. can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes! You can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes! You say.. "Steve.. how can I be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes?" First.. get a million dollars..."

I would put win 50% against UGA in the same category.

Also, I fail to see a single factual negative of Thurs games. Just whiny "It is inconvenient for ME." Thursday games get us huge exposure. The Jax game is different but still it will be near capacity because it is game one. If we were allowed to scrimmage Roswell high the week before Wednesday at noon I would expect 30K.

I come from Va for the Thurs games so I believe I walk the walk. Attendance for the Thurs games is very good. Recruits LOVE the game.

Also, lets give up the fantasy of dropping patsies. UNC tried to schedule near 100% quality opponents and it nearly killed the program. We, like all big time BCS programs, will schedule 2-3 patsies each year. If you are the only team (like UNC was) who has 3-4 fewer breather weeks, then your players and your coaches will be beat up and worn out mentally and physically compared to your opponents.

Also, Czar knows stupid people. Who can't even find decent excuses.
I don't like the big screen jargon either personally but it isn't all about me. After taking my nephews to the game, I realize that that stuff is actually good to keep kid's short attention span engaged. And what idiot can't tolerate the occasional retarded tower vs wreck vs buzz game if it makes some kids happy?

Answer:
#1. win of course (that includes the bowl)
#2. keep existing ticket buyers happy
#3. extort Clemson and UGA fans into buying full price tickets to other games to get their game tickets
#4. sell remaining seats at the market price ($150 upper north packs)
#5. sell to high school kids below market if necessary to be sold out every game

DRad is doing all of this.

The only other big fix is to win at BBall. The state was loaded with unaffiliated GT fans back when we had lethal weapon 3. GT MUST win consistently at bball to start making inroads on Georgie when it comes to unaffiliated fans.
Other than that

i actually like the Buzz v the Tower v the Wreck thing, that is funny and exciting, and i can see why kids like it. but 'who's smarter than a junior jacket?", please, that is about the worst-conceived concept i can think of.

also, if you think that pandering to young persons AD disorders by pounding them with stimuli, then we might as well feed McDonald's to the fat.. oh, we already do that? i see

i like the idea of letting alumni "buy back" the tradition by getting them to replace the revenue the ads bring in. in no way do i think that the ads add to the atmosphere or entertainment value (even for kids) as you are trying to imply

there is nothing wrong with a punt, kick, pass competition for kids or similar, but c'mon Papa Johns wheel spinning to win 3 months of free pizzas? and the best was when a bald guy won free haircuts for one year

I vote for the Budweiser song at each timeout or play stoppage!

Lets take a poll on who will complain about that?

Sorry JWE,

I would love for us to get rid of the Bud song. Yeah, yeah tradition. But of what?

I have a lot of customers around the state who serve Bud. Bud gives them schedule posters, most often with ugag themes.

And all have a disparaging image of GT on them.

Christ, why are we so dumb as to give them free advertising when they go around shoving it up our ass?

I have tried to find out if they give us anything in return for the free advertising we give them. So far, no luck.

This is completely untrue and if it's not, I'd love to see what you're talking about. I work for Budweiser and nobody makes anything with a disparaging image of Tech on it and if they did, it would have happened a long, long time ago.

Budweiser makes team-related material in areas where it is required by the big wigs. Walk through a Kroger or Publix downtown this fall and tell me if you see anything but Tech related point of sale material.

What, do you want? Miller Lite? The beer that had advertisements statewide last year with Larry Munson on them? "Voice of the proud, beer of the crowd!"

Or Coors? The ones who put "First and Cold, Georgia!" in red and black lettering all over their cans and make huge signs with the same thing to go along with it?

Budweiser song shouldn't go anywhere. Out of all beers, Bud is the one that's not blatantly disregarding us for our mentally impaired neighbors.
