Do you really believe this is a down year for UGA and that Tech has a real opportunity to win? I beg to differ. Yes we are replacing a senior OL, but every one of the players who will start next year got significant PT in '02 and faced our DL every day in practice. Our starting OT's are monsters at 6'5" 365 lbs. and 6'9" 325 lbs. David Greene in a recent interview stated that he has a tremendous amount of confidence in the guys who will be stepping into the starting rolls. What is interesting is our OL was playing much better at the end of the season when the new guys came in and played more ball. My biggest concern is at RB, not OL. Milton is good, but I don't think he is the complete package. He will be pushed by Cooper, Browning and Lumpkin (if Lumpkin can learn the system quickly enough). Nevertheless, it is a question mark.
Defensively, UGA is stout. IMO our DL will not miss a beat without Sullivan because we have Golsten, Anderson and Veal all of which are outstanding players. Are DE's are the best in the SEC by a mile and maybe the best in the nation. We will miss Boss Bailey and Tony Gilbert, no question about it. However, we've got guys coming in who played a lot last year and we will get serious contributions from a couple of players from this recruiting class. Odell Thurman is a stud at MLB. Our DB's are rock solid - tons of experience and talent in that department. Teams are going to find it very difficult to throw on this D.
I fully expect David Greene to have another solid season with DJ coming off the bench to add another dimension to our offense. I love our WR's especially Gibson, Gary, Johnson, Watson, Raley and McClendon. Loaded!
I don't know if we will go 13-1 this year because you need a lot of breaks to put up those type of records, but I expect we will be a top 10 again.
