Thanks for confirming my point. Woodson was awarded the Heisman because he played for Michigan. Was Ron Dayne a better player than Joe Hamilton in '99? NO! But, he did play in the default conference.
Nesbitt, answering a teammate: “I don’t want a Heisman. Let’s get a championship.” Per AJC
This guy really impresses me with his team first mentality.
Not to say that Nesbitt isn't a great team player, but everyone says that. You can find tons of quotes from TO saying the same thing, "I just care about helping the team," etc.
Quite the pessimist aren't we?
Edit: I would be too though if I were a Mets fan....
Ya there always got to be the one guy to rain on the parade, lol.
Just trying to keep everyone level-headed. Anyway, that wasn't meant to be an attack on Nesbitt at all(I love the guy, who doesn't?) Just pointing out that most players in that situation would say the same exact thing...I can't say I've ever heard of anyone actually saying "yeah, I really want to win an individual award, I don't really care if the team wins." No doubt there's players who think it, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wouldn't say the opposite.
Agreed but I think Josh has a sincerity about him that most don't. He wants to win passionately. You can see it on his face when we lose.
Yes. Had we lost to U[sic]GA last year, I don't think we would have seen him joking around on the sidelines or acting nonchalant during postgame interviews. I think if anyone on the team acts in any way that doesn't suggest passion for winning, then he's not long for Paul Johnson's team. That speaks both to the players and also to the type of team the coach is running.
Bingo! PJ wouldnt settle for anything less. Josh kneeling on the sidelines after the VT game is what really stands out in my mind.
