As conferences have gotten bigger and more spread out, they've really lost a lot of their identity. I used to root for the ACC pretty hard, and loved seeing how the conferences differed and which way each was trending.
Now I really couldn't care less. Even the SEC is no longer going to be the SEC; it will still be called the SEC, but really it will just be the top flight of semi-pro football.
Since bowl season was all about seeing inter-conference matchups you wouldn't normally have, its lost a lot of its luster for me. I haven't been watching much.
I would definitely watch the CFP bowls if they weren't on NYE, but...well...they are. It's like they don't want me to watch them.
