I'm not saying anything, but I am interested in reactions.

RB Curtis Modkins
WR/TE Jeep Hunter
QB Eric Zeier
ST Charles Kelly
DC/DB Jon Tenuta
LB Brian Jean-Marie
DL/RC Giff Smith

I'll give Zeier a pass, since I went to Marietta HS with him. But that's the only reason.

Are we giving up on Buddy Geis?

No, but the scenario demands we lose one more offensive assistant. I picked Geis, but feel free to do the same with Curtis or Jeep.

And the number of assistants we are allowed are as listed. HFC plus nine.

Query: are the same fonts that don't want Zeier the same ones that wanted Mac McWhorter to be our HFC?

Not sure of the answer, Techbert

A good case could be made for either. A good young quarterback coach might be a great asset to developing our wealth of talent at that position. We probably shouldn't be counting on Coker to stay long, so we would have the option of grooming Zier for the OC position down the road. It would take a little getting used to for both sides, but if Eric signed on to be a Tech coach, I'm sure I'd be fine with it. If he performs well I don't care where he comes from. The other argument is that Geoff has done a great job and deserves to be rewarded. If we could get him a coaching job he might stay with us longer. Maybe he would make a successor to Coker too. :dunno:

Geoff Collins' Coaching Background

Geoff was a tight end coach at GT under O'Leary. Before and after that he was a defensive coordinator at smaller schools.

Why Zeier?

Has he ever coached anywhere?

Last I heard he was in the mortgage business.

Not saying he wouldn't be a good coach, just interested about the suggestion that he would be interested in coaching.

Eric Zeier

To my knowledge, Eric Zeier is a successful businessman living in the metro Atlanta area. He has never been a coach, but was known as a successful, heady quarterback with good form. He played 5 years in the NFL.

There are indications that he would be interested in coaching. My strong suspicion is that his current income level would preclude him from accepting a graduate assistant role.

Yeah, he went to the same place every other washed up Bullpup goes, Homebanc Mortgage. Not sure how that qualifies you for a QB coaching slot. Didn't somebody else throw out George Godsey's name a while back and wasn't he actually in the business (with GOL perhaps)?

Zier is definitely interested in becoming Tech's QB coach. He still has football in his blood and he saw the obvious flaws in RB's play so he knows Tech has a need for QB coaching. He was seen on the Flats wearing a Tech cap during the Virginia game. Anyone who ever saw him play knows he was very, very good and has a good head on his shoulders.

Really?

How very odd.

I'd prefer Godsey, for obvious reasons (better QB, probably smarter, Tech alum, better fan support) but he's under George right now.

I'm curious... is any of this is founded speculation or is this is just a "fun question" to keep folks looking at the football board until after NSD?

Do you know something or are you just looking for a clever way to make fun of "McWhorter" people?

I am not above making fun of some people who deserve to be made fun of. However, in this case, I was just asking if the "McWhorter people" would treat Eric Zeier to the same standard, if Eric became one of our coaches. That is a fair question.

Certainly, anyone who wanted Mac as HFC but would criticize Zeier because of his Georgia background would deserve scorn, as they would either be very hypocritical or very ignorant.

I won't speak for Eric, but I would say it sounds like Essobee has some knowledge.

And if Chan interviewed Eric, that does not mean Eric will get an offer.

No Zeier, are you nuts!! He and the rest of the leg humpers can go straight to HELL!
