How Would You React To The Following Coaching Staff?

Well, first he would have to go on TV with a GT hat on and denounce his immoral past and admit that he'd seen the error of his ways and then we could talk about it.

In that Zeir isn't even coaching anywhere, this is a ridiculous question. In that he is also from georgia, the question becomes humiliating.

Let's hire Quincy. At least he signed with Tech. :laugher:

Anyone who ever saw him play knows he was very, very good and has a good head on his shoulders.

Actually no, if you saw him play you know that his father created a media campaign while he lived in Germany that was the rival of anything Todd Marinovich's dad pulled off. Zeier screwed Georgia's system to the point that he cost TWO coaches their jobs. He was not physically or mentally capable of being a top notch college (let alone NFL) quarterback.

He is not needed.

If we were looking at first time coaches, I would much rather have Joe Hamilton. Tech alum now and he did more with less physical ability than anyone. Nothing against Zeier, but all things being equal, I would rather give our own a chance.

Joe Hamilton has turned down a standing offer from Friedgen to be Maryland's QB coach because he wants to coach for Tech.

I'll take that kind of loyalty, as well as his obvious skills, over anything coming out of the cesspool. I know the arguments that a coach's alma mater doesn't matter (Dodd went to Tenn., Dooley went to Auburn, etc.), but why take a ugagger when Joe Hamilton is more qualified regardless of college attended?

I dunno about Zeir's coaching ability, but he set many records at UGa....and was considered to be UGa's best QB ever until Greene came along. I don't understand this statement.

OKAY OKAY, I have officially revised my opinion.

If Eric Zeir would wear a GT hat and sing the Ramblin Wreck on Fox 5 news, in its entirety, I say we hire him just because of the heartburn that'd give all the leghumpers in the state. That would be hi-friggin-larious to watch.

are we really sure when it came down to that last game this guy would be with us.

I don't know either way EZ's level of coaching ability or first-hand his ideas about football, but he's a competitor and as a competitor I would fully expect the UGa game to be the biggest one on his calendar.

We were not worried about Pat Nix having conflicting emotions when going against Auburn, and we did pretty well in those games. I don't remember Vince Dooley throwing any games to Auburn, either.

I tend to agree with clapper. Zier was touted to be the next Fran Tarkenton when he appeared at UGA. I think he was a good college quarterback; but I was surprised he got picked up in the NFL. I remember many of his passes looking like wounded ducks, yet I think he was touted for his arm strength. In my opinion Greene was a much better quarterback, and Hamilton a far better quarterback. I really don't recall if he was a good decision maker or simply average.

I have no idea if he would make a good coach. Playing ability and coaching ability are not directly related.

I would take Joe any day! NO DAWGS ALLOWED!! That would go against everything I as a GT fan have ever believed!

What I agree with is that in Zeir's time, R goof decided to throw out their running game and became a chuck and duck offense. Must have made Dooley sick.

Zier was touted to be the next Fran Tarkenton when he appeared at UGA.

I was at Marietta HS when he got all the local billing for being "the golden gun," and I must say, he wasn't even the best player on our team. Amel Jackson, MHS's runningback, was Barry Sanders reincarnated and had offers from Michigan and a bunch of other places, until he blew out his knee setting the state record for the long jump. Never played a snap of college ball, which was a major shame.

Yeah, Zeir's senior year Marietta's strength was our running game.

Actually I don't care where somebody went to college when looking at coaches. I care about whether he's actually a good coach. The thing about that profession is that you quickly switch your allegiance to your guys. There are too many examples to name of guys who have been successful at schools they played against in college. If Zier was a good coach and available, I would have no problem with him being on the staff.

Why Eric Zeier? Why not? It does not matter where he went to school. All of you should realize that he is not only a great football player but a wonderful person. He is always ready to help people out and he cares so much about football. You should of hired him years ago. Lets get some new spirit on this team and hire Eric Zeier. Please all you Marietta High fans out there write in and support Eric........:fingersx:

I would love to have Zeier at Tech. He would be the best recruiter anywhere (and that is saying a lot). And, he would be an ideal position coach.

I do not know if it would happen. At this point, all of this is speculation.

I am still here for Eric Zeier.

Nothing agains Zeier, but Joe Hamilton is just as qualified and he is a Tech man. Trust me, at 5'8", he had to overcome many more hurdles and played in one of the most dynamic offenses in college ball. I would take either one, but my support is for one of our own.

I have a question for all you people that are not in favor of Eric Zeier. Did every single person on the coaching staff attend Tech? What is the big deal. I have a house that is both UGA and Tech. What really should matter here is let us win some games and have a great QB coach by the name of Eric Zeier because if we don't grab him someone else will.
