According to Dabo, the fake fg turned punt wasn't his call. According to Tarrant, Dabo was pointing where he wanted the punt to go, so Tarrant stood there fielded the punt and ran it back. It is pretty clear who was telling the truth there.
Dabo was also would change plays but not blocking schemes getting his qb and rb killed.

It is only when Dabo went Bobby Bowden that Clemson took off. More power to him, it takes a big man to know his limits. Dabo has worked wonders recruiting and motivating. He's done great allowing his coordinators to run their end of things. Dabo isn't completely hands off. He clearly prefers the soread offense. He hasn't tried to turn Clemson into a power running team.

Dabo would do great at UTx and most any non-big 10 state school.

I heard a Head Coach once say winning comes down to 3 things and every decision you make as a head coach falls into one of these buckets:

1. Recruiting talent
2. Developing talent
3. Having a system on both sides of the ball

Dabo had a glaring weakness in #3 but recognized his weakness and hired 2 guys that have systems, understand their systems, know how to teach it, and can adjust on gameday once the ball is snapped.

Props to him.
 
I don't think Dabo is necessarily a great coach. But I think he understands people. He finds a way to relate to players and makes it fun for them to be a part of the program. I think he's less like a CEO and more like a chairman of the board.

Here's a question - how many players have transferred out of Clemson since he took over? Have there been any real discipline problems the last couple of years?

Look, I'm glad we've got PJ. I've thought for a long time he'd be a great fit at Tech and he likes coaching at Tech. He likes the kind of kid it takes to make it to and through Tech. Would I have rather Dabo than PJ? No. I don't know how well Dabo's philosophy would translate to success at Tech. But it works like hell where he is.

Dabo is Bobby Cremins but better

Recruits as good, develops players better, and seems to be able to replace assistants better than BC. I have never understood how GT people are too good for guys like Dabo but love BC.

Forgot about him. But I was trying to think of any problems Dabo has had. Either he's really good at keeping a lid on things or he's running a pretty clean ship.

That's him. But I think his dad has straightened him out since.
 
This is a class of 2017 kid (just now read the thread). Why is this a big deal?

Exactly. Sounds like a solid model to me as well.
 
It's hard to fault Dabo for putting himself in a position to be successful. He seems like a stand up dude. Every HC has made questionable decisions in game.
