I’ve been a fan and watched GT football..

AD has to go too. I understand our womens sports are in a bit of a renaissance, but who the hell cares? The two most important mens sports are complete garbage. AD is clueless and has made nothing but poor decisions IMHO. He and Collins go together.
I suspect the Volleyball team is successful because TStan has had little to do with their program.

1) Fire the current AD
2) Hire a new AD and announce that the new AD will evaluate the football program at the end of the season

and announce the new AD is immediately evaluating potential coaches for next year.

We are gonna take our lumps this season. Save some money by not firing him and move on in the off-season. It’ll be OK. We are more attractive now than we were when we hired Collins. It sucks that we decided to get away from something that was working, unique, and watchable in the pursuit of being just like everyone else.
No. Fire his ass tonight and burn down his ööööing house.

I do not think we can do that without triggering the buyout immediately.
There was a link to the contract somewhere on here, is the tech admin seriously prohibited from saying Collins will not be retained past 1/1 or whatever the date is?

I am beginning to think the lawyers for the GT athletic department are UGA grads who are intentionally trying to sabotage our program. There is no other explanation for the Hewitt never ending contract, the Pastner contract that allowed NCAA violations and exposing our players to a known gambler without consequences and finally the seven year Collins contract that has trigger dates that apply to us but would not apply if Collins terminated the contract.

Finally, who decided we should bail out TStan when he refused to pay his obligation to Oregon State?

No one in the AA is held accountable for their actions from TStan down to the players.

I'm really not sure why he can't be AD of Women's sports. Ge0ff caould be HC of Women's football, you know the round type with the funny pentagon & hexagon pieces sewn together. Match made in heaven.

Lewis wasn’t owed a huge buyout either.

We really want that clown Key being promoted to interim head coach? He sucks as much as Goof and Thacker.

Fire him and promote Long.

I don't think we should promote anybody on this staff. If we have to bring somebody in just to finish the season, we should. Tech has got to convince the fans that we're serious about changing things. If I were Cabrera, I would go talk with Bill Curry tomorrow. I would ask him if he would come back for six months, finish coaching the season, and then hire a new head coach. I know he's 79, but he is one person I would have total confidence in. If he would come do this for Tech, I would have some confidence that Tech was serious about winning in football. He might not be willing to do it, but I would sure ask him.

Ol'Leary and Friedgen would also be good in this role. My only concern would be the impact on their health given their age.

I agree. It would be asking a lot of them. But, I'm old, myself. Doing things I used to take for granted is hard for me now. But, I still want to do something to be useful to God and things that are important to me. Maybe one of them would feel that way. They would be sacrificing a lot, but they could perform a great service to Georgia Tech.

We need someone who has shown they know what they are doing and has had past success but is stuck in a bad situation elsewhere or under employed. Ross was such a guy coming from a öööö show in Maryland.

I don’t really care if the coach is in purgatory due to his own stupid decision or just mismanagement of those above him, but we need one of those guys who can manage an entire program and coach on Saturdays.

Here are a few proven guys who are in purgatory or otherwise underemployed and aren’t 75 years old like George and Ralph (God bless both of them):
- Bobby Petrino
- Art Briles
- Gus Malzahn
- Clay Helton
- Dan Mullen
- Gene Chizik
- Bronco Mendenhall

Not all are equal (I’d cringe at the thought of Chizik), but we need someone to stabilize a listing ship. We need another Bobby Ross or George OLeary to come in and save our ass.

Is Frost a possible option. I wonder if unrealistic expectations and the pressure of coming home led to his failure at Nebraska.

Briles, Helton and Petrino. Maybe Mullen if we could afford him but I’m not sure that he is a good fit since he lived on the juco system.

On a separate but related note, you and @BuzzLaw need to contact Cabrera and volunteer to review and advise on all AA contracts. I assume four club level tickets for all GT sports would be a fair compensation package.
