I hope Tebow goes pro after this game.

I ask again, how is Tebow different than Vince Young or Mike Vick regarding whether he can play QB in the NFL?

I think Tebow will end up at QB in the NFL. He wants and will be given a shot, and he won't fail. The fact that he could play other positions successfully is irrelevant unless he wants to give up on QB.

All the NFL evaluators suffer from groupthink IMO.

Not going pro.

MIAMI (AP) -- Shortly after leading the Florida Gators to a national
championship with a 24-14 win over Oklahoma, junior quarterback Tim
Tebow announced that he would skip his senior season and ascend
directly into heaven.

Tebow entered the press room to wild applause. A reporter for a 24-
hour cable sports network burst into tears when the 2007 Heisman
winner entered the room. Another threw a pair of boxer shorts on the
podium. Tebow smiled at the gesture and several sports reporters
fainted.

"Sorry I'm late," Tebow began. "There was a six-year-old boy with
cancer in row 54 and I had to make my way through the crowd to heal
him."

"I want to start by saying that playing quarterback for the University
of Florida, winning two national championships, has been a great
honor. There has been some speculation about my future and I want to
clear that up right now," he continued.

"Don't go, Tim!" a reporter shouted from the back of the room.

"After much consideration, I have decided to skip my senior season at
the University of Florida and ascend directly into Heaven," Tebow
announced. Upon making the announcement, Tebow was bathed in a
blinding white light and vanished.

In response to the news, ESPN announced they will have a month-long
tribute to Tebow. ESPN2 will now be known as ESPN-TEBOW and will
feature Tebow highlights (including home videos of Tebow's childhood),
re-airings of past interviews, Tebow-centric analysis by ESPN air
personalities, a Tebow quiz show and a reality show to find the "most
Tebow-like" person in America.

"He wasn't just the greatest player in college football history," said
a college football writer at the press conference, tears streaming
down his face. "He might have been the greatest person to ever walk on
earth."

Lonestar, I am not stating he will not be a good QB -- but draftwise, all the NFL evaluators do do groupthink for the draft, in that they look at fundamentals -- and his arm mechanics, including his release, are poor. Secondly, Vick and Young had better arm mechanics -- and also avoided tackles when making a run. Tebow runs over people on his runs -- and you do not let your franchise QB try to run over Ray Lewis or Ed Reed.

Not saying he cannot be successful/winner at the big league, but he will not be a first rounder. Just like Charlie Ward and Joe Hamilton were not first day/round selections, albeit they were winners.

I believe Tebow, if he has another season similar to this one, will be regarded probably as the best player ever to play the college game -- which is great accolades in and of itself. The jury is still out in my mind as to how well he will be as a NFL player.

In my book decision making beats arm mechanics every time. I want a QB, not a "thrower." And he sure seemed to be able to hit open receivers when it counted. (I was waiting for someone to say that maybe the NFL had cooled on QBs like Young and Vick. The defenses seem to have learned to play to stop the scramble and let them pass, that's where the decision making comes in.)

There are people out there who agree, but they know that the rest of the NFL will let him drop and they can get a bargain. The net result is the same.

Worst case scenario I think he could become a good TE, or even LB for that matter. So the downside risk of drafting him seems minimal.

He and Urban have another year to prove he can play at the next level. Look for FL's offense to change some next season to feature his arm more.

ROFL.

That sums it up nicely.

Yep - I saw the same thing. He definitely did not declare to the NFL draft and will be returning to Florida next season.

and he will be drafted and projected as an H-back, just next year.

i never said he would go pro this year

Unless Urban shows us all that we're wrong about him.

He sure ain't coming back to prove what a great H-back he would be.

P.S.
I don't think improving his draft status has very much to do with his decision either way. It's more like Matt Leinhart. He's a superstar where he is and having fun, why cut that short?

I don't think that's why he's coming back. But I wouldn't be surprised if Urban takes all the negative talk from the pros as a challenge.

Urban wants to win another championship, and so does Tebow.

that is enough reason to come back, especially when you are living in florida as a hero without being the rookie again

he is not trying to change his playing style at, in my opinion, why would he? it has won him two titles

he will go down as the greatest current-era player for now, and then go have a decent but not stellar career making millions in the NFL being a back-up QB that can help teams at other positions.

he will not be a starting QB in the NFL, unless there are injuries on a team, or unless Brett Farve becomes the GM at a team with low talent at the position

Supposedly, Urban hired Scott Loeffler as the new QB coach for Florida to improve his mechanics and get him a better draft position for next year. Scott also has prior relationship with Tebow, as he was the one recruiting him for Michigan.
