If Collins Isn’t Fired This Week…

I think it gets sorted out in the next 2 weeks. As of today, Collins and Stansbury can credibly argue our record is what everyone expected it to be and we are still alive for 6 wins. There is no credible path to a bowl without UCF as a win and certainly no path after a 1-4 start. If we pull off a win, I am not sure.

Our win loss record is what everyone expected, but not our record. We have underperformed expectations in every game. We just had a team put 42 pts on us while trying not to score.

Our coach is a joke and he has failed miserably at the two things he was expected to do. He hasn’t recruited any better than Gailey or Johnson. And he apparently can’t motivate the team.

The only thing the Collins era has proved is that we don’t have the money to pull a Dabo model where we pay for top shelf coordinators. We need to either embrace a steppingstone model or run a niche program. Both of those require having an AD who can identify and hire a quality coach.

The clown might actually be getting fired today … the press conference was scheduled for 10:35 this morning and still hasn’t started …

Dude, he’s got about 8 spare timeouts in his pocket. He’s not late yet.

Here is the risk for Collins. He holds out to force GT to fire him now (more money) or fire him at the end of the season (less money).
But he has to make it through 2 months in the locker room with 100 guys who hate him. One wrong word or one shove and he gets fired with cause (no money). And with every blowout, his professional reputation takes a hit. He drops from coordinator level to off field analyst.

I think I would laugh at anyone at FBS level hiring him as a football analyst. I know Saban has thrown lifelines to other fired head coaches that way; but I don't see him doing it here. Maybe as a public relations/recruiting consultant?
